You need to go see a good instructor.

You're trying to get from NYC to LA. By car. Without a map. On a bicycle.

Just get to the airport and buy a ticket. There might be three connecting flights, but it's the faster, surer way to get there.

Well when I came hear a year everyone said the best and easiest way to hit a golf ball successful was stack and tilt....I have to disagree I've read the book three times and have practiced my butt off.... I'm going to either quit playing or break down and see an instructor

If you want a small dose of tough love, you aren't doing it right. And it's not really a book for a raw beginner (nor is Hogan's book, really).

I'll re-iterate what I've told you several times now one more time: go see a good instructor. Don't see just anyone, don't see the cheapest guy necessarily - find a good one and commit to something.

It just would not be my starting point.

If you can't do lessons, video yourself and join the club here so you can get an evaluation.

You might try youtube for S&T;, and www.stackandtiltgolfswing.com has beginner type videos.

    • I think 95% is more accurate. The leader of our course rating program shot from the hip and said 90%, but I recently read elsewhere that it is more like 95%. So we spend 4 hours or more on a course with a team of 6 to 8 people to figure out the last few rating strokes as to whether they exist or not due to difficulty. I credit this site/forum for getting my interest up in volunteering for my state association. I am marshalling for the US Mid Am qualifier later this morning 15 min from my home. We get shirts, hats, 1/4 zips, a cart with our name on it, a radio, lunch and unlimited snacks all while watching some great golfers. 🙂

    • Day 2: August 12.  I did 25 balls of the ruler drill from LSW for putting.  24 of the 25 stayed on the ruler through 36" but some were smoother than others.  I suspect if the ruler (and goal) had been 48" far fewer would have stayed on.  I'm trying to go by sound, and not look, since when I attempt short putts, I don't want to look (although now I wonder if that's conventional wisdom that turns out to be wrong).
    • Day 17: did mirror work while watching TV. Working on wrist feels.
