I got this back a while ago, but I've been swamped with work and other things so I was never really able to provide an update, until recently. I received an old Scotty Newport in Oilcan finish as an Xmas gift from my wife, it was purchased with the intent of me sending it to the custom shop for refurbishing. I'm really pleased with the end result, but the problem is it's almost too pretty to game, so it hasn't seen the bag yet.

Maybe this Wednesday at the Refuge Golf Club with BigAl as I battle the Wisconsin propaganda machine? We'll see...

Beats listening to you talk about ND's great record against the Army, Navy and the Air Force Academy...

BTW, why is your putter facing the wrong way?

You forgot the Coast Guard and this year's homecoming oponent, the Boy Scouts!!!

Shhh, you're going to wake up the echo's...

What echos...oh you mean Ron Powlus' echos for Jimmy Clausen....

Back to golf..You gotta play the Cameron. I purchased one on e-bay with the intent on sending it into the custom shop, but I needed to use it this weekend as a friend borrowed my tri-ball for a weekend competition (he and his friends version of the Ryder Cup--3 days of team play 8 vs. 8). It was a great putter, and now I am looking forward to sending it in to get re-finished over the winter, however, I am having second thoughts about having it shortened by an inch as I thought it swung great. What options did you select when you got yours refinished, I see you got your name stamped on it and looks like you choose the original finish, what else?

about how much does it run to have one refinished? I realize it would vary depending on the options you choose, but roughly? anyone?

Scotty's website lists the cost for the available options, you just have to go to the custom shop portion of the site.

Love em or hate em, everyone's thinking about the Irish!!

The options I selected were: Original Finish (I asked for 3x oilcan but got shot down) Custom Shop Stamp (They forgot it, but refunded my $$) Name stamped on toe Sight dot Custom Shop grip in navy Custom Shop headcover in navy Restored to original loft, length and lie Total price was 315.00 plus shipping, less 35.00 refund for the missing stamp. I know, that's complicated math for a Michigan guy, so I'll provide the answer at the bottom of the post, don't cheat though, at least try the subtraction. (joking of course, it's just healthy college rivalry) a) $280.00

Addition and his tricky partner subtraction....always baffeling, did you have to put on the green jersey to think of that one .

Did you get the sight dot or sight line, from the pictures it looks like the sight line. Did you get a chance to use it before you sent it in to the custom shop. How did it play, also once you get a chance to use it, tells us how you like it and how it plays.

While any ND fans knows how to polish his dome, you may want to visit some of the Cameron sites and forums for suggestions on care and cleaning as I have herad the oil cans can get oxidation pretty quickly. Great looking putter though...too bad about the custom stamp, where were you going to get it?

This post is funny... Seriously, it made me laugh.

I'm attaching the pic from above, I putted a bit with it before but you could tell someone had leaned on it pretty hard, or just plain bent it, so it was pretty far off IMO. Straight as an arrow now... Oh, and the dot lines up, it's just that the picture was taken at an angle

Honestly, I thought it would be the one thing that would make me fall in love with with over my studio style. In reality, it's nice, but I could take it or leave it...

Thanks for the pics, I think I am going to go with a refinish, replace shaft, burgandy leather grip, replace cover (or get black art of putting cover) and certification. I also would like to get a top site line and two site lines on the flange. I am still on the fence about the custom stamp.

    • Shot of the Week for me was definitely this drive that set up my second birdie of the back 9 yesterday. It’s a longer par 4 but usually the prevailing wind is with you (the slightly longer hole to the right is a par 5 that usually plays into the wind). I don’t usually hit driver on this hole and honestly couldn’t think of the last time I did when I was standing on the tee. Yesterday, the wind was in the opposite direction so I had to hit into a headwind. I decided I’d need the extra length with driver on the tee and absolutely piped it. It was perfectly launched with low spin that just penetrated through the wind. Technically the approach shot was worth more in SG (I hit it inside 4’), but this drive set up the entire hole.

    • Rory and Bryson are two of my favorites for some time.  This was a great watch.  Poor Rory looked gutted and (heat?) exhausted at the end there.  Bryson play US Open golf - Captain Scramble.  Avoid the blowups and accidentally find a birdie on occasion and it goes far,
    • 2nd shot into a short par 5. I had ~185 left but was just off the fairway to the right with some low tree limbs in front of me. Aimed at the water and hit a punch slice 4 iron that started low under the trees, rose higher as it kept going, cut towards the middle of the green, carried the water and rolled to ~25 feet for an eagle putt. Lipped out the eagle putt but never going to complain about tap in birdies.  It was one of those shots that I've done before and was a perfect yardage gap. I have a punch 4 iron swing that I know goes right at 185, and I can cut the ball much easier than I can draw it, so it was actually a much easier shot for me than it appears to be in the picture. I would have been fine if it would have over cut too, rough isn't very penal here so it would have been an easy chip from short right.  Although to be fair I didn't realize/remember that the water cut in as far into the fairway as it did, I thought it stopped right around the left edge of the green.
    • I absolutely LOVE my new Titliest U505 3 iron.  It was slightly chunky looking at first, but I don't even notice it anymore after just a couple rounds with it. It's super easy to launch it high and I have no issues flighting it down either.  Perfectly fine to hit off the tee for tighter tee shots and for 2nd shots into par 5s. Even the mishits go much further than I think they should, it's quite forgiving.
