A 9 hole, par 27, 805 yard Pitch & Putt course near me says on their website that they have a course rating of 35.5 and a slope of 113 - this is likely incorrect, no??

(I do not find them in the USGA database).

It's possible. I've seen a few that have actually ratings.

It may have a rating, but a score can not be posted on 18 hole courses less than 3000 yards or 9 hole ones shorter than 1500 yards

Also those ratings suggest a scratch golfer should shoot 35.5 which I find highly unlikely.

That's what has me confused - even if they do have a rating, the numbers don't make sense to me, 35.5/113 would be more in line with 9 typical difficulty holes with a par of 36, right? - but I'm new to all this so don't know if I'm missing anything.

you are correct, i just find it hard to believe that a scratch should bogey every hole on a course that short - unless it is goofy golf

Thanks, I think their website is just flat out wrong (and there's no rating info on their scorecard either).

Could it be that they are extrapolating the rating to account for the fact that you are basically starting with your approach shot? IE: all things being equal, if you were to add a tee shot of equivalent difficulty to the rest of the course the rating would be 35.5? That is the only thing that would make any sense to me. No way in H-E-double-hockey-sticks would a scratch golfer shoot 35 on a pitch and putt, unless of course they have live alligators and windmills

Someone probably put numbers on there because they saw them on another course's scorecard. No reason for it to be rated anyway - unless some foreign country allows scores posted there for handicap purposes
