Hello, first ever post, I am from Scotland caddie at an Open venue, a little bit experienced at tournaments etc and a reasonable golfer, I would like to caddie in the USA this winter, I know I have left it very late but does anyone know of any courses that would be taking people on ?  Any other advice would also be greatly appreciated.

I know there is a national company that handles caddying at a lot of the upscale clubs here in the US.  I can't remember the name but they are more of a management firm that is contracted out by prospective clubs.  Sadly caddying is rare here in the US at all but the most exclusive clubs.  I'd call around at places like the Bandon Dunes resort or the Pebble Beach Company they have vibrant caddy programs and they should be able to hook you up or give you the contact information for a company that manages caddy programs.

thanks a lot, considered bandon but its in oregon surely they won't be busy over the winter, would have to be somewhere hot like florida.  will probably end up just emailing pebble and similar places, you know I once met a guy who could have hooked me up at sawgrass but I lost his email :-(

I know a bunch of caddies from the Augusta National and they use this management firm I mentioned.  The National is a winter time course, but they are fairly locked up with full time and part time caddies.  The club you caddy at doesn't have any connections to help you with a contact here in the states?

bandon has 5 courses, 4 of which are considered part of the top 20 courses in all of the usa.   its our golf "mecca".  and the winter is oregon is not what you'd expect either.

we had a connection in naples, florida but its over-subscribed now waiting lists etc, old collier its called.  I'll give bandon a try then I didn't think theyd be busy enough over the winter to be hiring just now.

I wouldn't expect the USA to give you a work visa to be a caddie here. Aquiring one requires a unique skillsets that cant be readily found in the the state or country you are applying to, unless of course you are working on a student visa (you can work while in college). I would say that your chances are next to  nil, aside from doctors and nurses and such, it isnt easy to just go tothe USA and work.. My wifes mother works for the department of security, and deals specificly with passports. She was telling me how lucky I am to have Dual citizenship, because otherwise, I would never be able to work there (not that I want to).

In the Ogio Kingpin bag:

Titleist 913 D2 9.5* w/ UST Mamiya ATTAS 3 80 w/ Harrison Shotmaker & Billy Bobs afternarket Hosel Adaptor (get this if you don't have it for your 913)
Wilson Staff Ci-11 4-GW (4I is out of the bag for a hybrid, PW and up were replaced by Edel Wedges)
TaylorMade RBZ 5 & 3 Fairway Woods

Cobra Baffler T-Rail 3 & 4 Hybrids

Edel Forged 48, 52, 56, 60, and 64* wedges (different wedges for different courses)

Seemore Si-4 Black Nickel Putter

its actually really easy to get a 12 month work visa if you have a job waiting for you, and luckily enough I caddied for a guy who works at the US embassy in London just a few weeks ago he processes visa applications said I would be fine and even gave me his email address to send my application directly to him, sorry to disappoint you but that isnt an issue at all.

How about celebrity caddying??,california obviously, lots of avid celebrity golfers, how you would go about enquiring i wouldnt know, advertise yourself or get in touch directly with such celebrities, most have fan clubs,or agents,i suppose that could be an avenue to look into, simply google known celebrity golf fanatics, and take it from there

    • First going to spain for a long weekend in March probably going to play La Quinta, Los Arqueros and Fina Cortesin, and first week in May will compete in the Crawsnest Tassie at Carnoustie golf links, that will be a full week of golf golf golf and more golf. Did play it last year for the first time and it is awesome.
    • Scrubs is coming back to ABC. February 25.
    • Day 47: simulator day! Played St. Andrew’s and shot a +1. Not bad, especially with having to putt at this simulator set up. Had about 5 minutes at the end to work on some feels as well.
    • I think you're saying it's preposterous to think that the areas on this club are anything like what's shown here: 30mm toward the toe or heel loses only 5% distance? Highly, highly doubtful. So a guy who hits the ball there and normally hits the ball about 250… will hit it instead about 238. By missing the sweet spot by about 1.2 inches? Highly, highly doubtful. Heck, the high heel barely gets into the red, and orange is only "up to" 10%! @M2R, I've never heard of "Ask Golf Nut" but I'm dubious of his claims in the video and really, really dubious of what's on his site: "Why AskGolfNut Is the Most Trusted Data-Driven Golf Resource". Hmmmmmm.
