Tiger sure doesn't look very sharp in anything but his putting. But if he's playing well enough to be in the lead, the wind must be worse than it looks. Edit: Heh, and just as I said that, he finally hit a nice chip shot. I'd say he got robbed, but after all those bombs he made, it's hard to complain about his luck this week.

yeah, i actually called TNT and left a message on their comment line about how ridiculous it is to show 2 omega commercials in one commercial break.  i know its not going to do anything, but it felt good to vent.

Many good players in the top now, but I really hope carl pettersson takes it, would be the first major for sweden

only one round in the 60's so far today

what a difference the breeze makes

and it's just a breeze

avg 4 stroke increase over rd 1

in 91 at the war on the shore they had real wind

can't imagine playing that course in real wind

good story about it here

All this talk about the non-bunkers got me thinking.  It was said they are not maintained like bunkers and are more like hard pan cart paths and that is one of the reasons they are played as waste areas.  That sounds like every bunker in Arizona (with the exception of the nicer courses in the winter).  So I think I may start playing them all as "sand areas" :)

they're a man made hazard, I say a free drop is in order

I must have jinxed him.......sorry

I reverse jinxed Tiger. He has looked very sharp almost from the minute I posted that he wasn't looking very sharp. He just played the hardest stretch of the course in one under, and didn't miss a shot. And everybody else is falling off, except for the Swedish Meatball, but I don't see him sticking with Tiger over the weekend.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
