cleat lifespan

i just got my first pair of golf shoes and was curious to know how long the cleats last. my shoes are nike and they have champ qlock cleats in them. the proshop and wal mart only carry soft spikes so i didnt know if i need to keep a new set on hand, i may have to order them online. your thoughts please.

Mine don't really wear out.... I just tend to lose them sometimes. It seems as though they slowly twist over time unless you screw them back in regularly.

Same with me. They'll probably just fall off eventually, and you can either get new shoes or just purchase the soft spikes to screw back in.

like i said mine have champ qlock cleats, the dont screw in and out. you push and 1/4 turn and they unlock and come out. im gonna go to my only local golf store today, ill see if they stock them there so i dont have to order them online.

If you ride a cart, obviously they'll last longer. They can wear out, and you shouldn't let them fall out because then the threads can get worn or filled with gunk which can be impossible or difficult to remove.

I change my spikes about once per year, but I have three pairs of shoes, too, and play four times per week.

About the same here. I have four pairs of golf shoes, two I walk with and two for when I ride. I clean my shoes after every round using

a brush like this and check to make sure the spikes are in OK shape and still securely attached.

Am I the oddball here? I have soft spikes on my shoes, and the spikes are literally falling apart after three months. They're not coming off, the individual spikes are being ground up into pieces and suddenly I'm left with a piece of rubber attached to the sole of my shoe - and no spikes. I always ride, so I don't necessarily think too much walking is the problem... so what gives?

I play alot of golf i mean like at least 18 5 days a week and about half way through the season i need new ones and i use softspikes.

Yeah my soft spikes wear out about every 2 months. The tips of the spikes break off and then just start wearing down to nubs.

You can find every cleat for every shoe ever made at any golf shop. Shoes now all use the the same 3 top brands for cleats so its not too hard to find them anywhere.

ive had my callaways for a little over a year and maybe 40-50 rounds now... cleats still seem fine to me... never bothered tightening them either.

of course now that ive said that i'll go check to make sure i dont lose one tomorrow.

I guess the other thing that could factor in regards to cleat life is the type of course that you play. Drier courses may make them a little more worn (due to the hardness of the ground obviously). That said, I don't think I've ever replaced a cleat because it broke down.

I tend to change mine once a year. I just put a new set in last week, but they replaced the ones that came with the shoes at the begining of last season. I put in the Champ Scoripon Stinger's. they tend to wear down relatively quickly. I can already see where they have worn down. I usually walk and too often catch myself walking on cartpaths. Plastic spikes, 240 lbs and cement are not a good combination.
