Had a little money left from a bonus check and thought I would pick up some forged irons. Have an appointment this Saturday with a local fitter to have the irons adjusted, impact tape and lie board for each club. So nice and shiny I hate to even hit them

Couldn't wait till Saturday, took 1/2 day off work and went to see my local fitter to have some adjustments made. Planning on a couple of range trips this week before putting them in play Saturday morning.

How 'bout some more porn

Nice bling. Congrats on the new sticks!

Not me. To me, most things on forums hinge around semantics, so I couldn't care less. I was just being a bit of a troll cause I know that subject gets a lot of panties in a wad.

This.......but who cares. All I know is these things are sweet. Stopped by the range on the way home for a large bucket and WOW.....just WOW. Hybrids coming out on the bag and the 3 & 4 iron are going in. Can't wait to get these things on the course.

So, what is it about these sticks that make you choose the long irons over brids? I too prefer long irons over hybrids even though I may lose some hittability out of long rough.

Nope, but those are nitro groups that make the molecule go bang.

While doing the fitting when we got to the 3 & 4 I told Terry not to worry too much about getting them perfect that I normally carry hybrids. He said "I bet you hook them", and I said "yep, have to play about a 15 yard draw", which is not a problem because it's consistant. Then after hitting balls with impact tape with the 3 & 4, every swing was dead center, he said I would be crazy to carry hybrids. Yesterday at the range the long irons were straight at the target every shot. Probably still to early to pass judgement but if I hit them as well on the course as I do the range, so long hybrids.

My wife just asked what I was doing.  "Looking at porn" I replied.

Nice!

Excellent. I bet hitting that 3i flush is a sweet feeling. Mine too.

My ball is anything on sale

Well, I would call the first weekend with the new sticks a success. Shot 82 on Saturday and 79 today and took a triple on 11 both days . So far I'm about a 1/2 a club shorter with the Mizuno's compared to my Ping i15's. I'm think that once I get more time with them, the distance will increase. I feel like I was being real cautious with most of my swings.

I only got a couple of full swings with the R12 and it feels good. What was amazing was how much harder the Ping wedge felt compared to the Mizuno's.

I'm liking the R12 wedges, bought a 58/10 to replace my Ping 58*. Big difference in the feel, the Mizuno's have a really soft feel and taking a bit to get used to. Seems like I can take a little more aggressive swing around the greens which means I can spin the ball better. With the Pings the ball seemed to jump off the face too much to get too aggressive.

    • When I got to Florida this season (seasons instead of years since the years overlap) one of the guys asked what I had done, said I was about twenty yards longer with my driver. Said that I had a different driver which was true but looking back it’s really the shaft that’s been the difference. It’s similar in principle to the Autoflex in that it’s light weight and also light flex. Since most of my clubs are bought used I have difficulty finding senior shafts most of the time and being old and slow that’s what I need. Bought the Callaway driver, for several years I preferred Ping drivers, because they only had a couple of used drivers with senior shafts in my price range and it’s been probably the best I’ve had. Longer and very forgiving, decent distance even on my mishits and almost always in play. Keep in mind that my swing speed is probably under 70mph.
    • Day 17 - First round of the year. It took me about 6 holes to remember how to hit off grass. Short game was lacking, but the round could’ve been much worse. It’s nice that my new “bad” is my old “good.”
