I have a friend of mine who is constantly urging me to switch to these tees. What's the deal with them? Do they make much of a difference, compared to normal tees?

Driver: :cobra: BiO Cell (10.5º)

Wood: :ping: G15 3 (15.5°)

Hybrids: :callaway: Diablo Edge: 3 (21º), 4 (24º)

The only difference would be build quality and how long they last. As far as ball speed, trajectory and all that stuff, there is no difference.

Yea, I tried them out during a round today and only ended up using 3 or 4 of them for the entire round.

Driver: :cobra: BiO Cell (10.5º)

They won't improve your game but it will save you some money. I bought a pack of orange ones two years ago and still haven't used half of them. I will use the same tee for 10 rounds before it breaks.

Like the others said, they wont change your game but they will save you money.  3 years ago I bought a 100 pack of ZF tees and even playing 2-3 times a week Ive still only used about half of them.  They last a very, very long time.

Last forever.

On the down side, when you are not steady, it can be frustrating getting the ball to stay on the tee. When I started some Blood Pressure meds, I stopped using these tees.

same as all of the above, i'll also note that i have a harder time getting these into some of the harder teeboxes as opposed to regular wooden tees.

Ditto, one of the clubs I play at has very hard tee boxes and I've broken more ZF tees in those boxes than I have by hitting them.

Same, except I have blue ones with the University of Kansas on them!  I will lose one before I break it.

      I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.

      Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
