Thank you.  I'll be interested in seeing what the photo looks like, but it sounds like what I was picturing in my mind.

At my home course they red staked a hill beside a green and the only reason we could figure was so that members could take a drop. On the top side of the hill is the cart path, then the hill sits between the cart path and the green (players left as they approach the green with their second shot). There is water to the right of the green...but none left. It is just a hill with tall grass, absolutely no water.

The shop was closed by the time we finished our round, but I intend on asking this week why exactly they staked it red.

ok..if it IS a single line..thats just totally perplexing and I wouldn't follow any of the hazard rules.  I would play the next shot just as I would any other shot on the course.

I played a course the other day that had red stakes around the whole outside areas and yellow stakes in other hazards in the fairway. I assume for speeding play. I hit a provisional ball on one hole and realized that these areas weren't considered out of bounds. Then I was like, there is no areas anywhere with white stakes.... my kind of track....lol

Your a 2 index, and do not know the basic rules of golf?

White stakes are OUT OF BOUNDS, Return to the place from which you hit that ball that crossed the O.B. line and hit again taking a drop and stroke penalty.

RED is hazard,  Known as LATERAL WATER HAZARD, does not need to be water inside of the RED stakes to play,  If no water you may play from inside the stakes with no penalty unless you ground your club.  If there is water then you must play by the LATERAL WATER HAZARD rules.

There is a little book titled     ---    Rules of Golf----- good bathroom reading.  Give it a try.  You will fine that in the book is a rule in regards to making an agreement to paly in violation of the rules.

And with a handicap index of 22 one would think you would know enough to read the entire thread before passing judgement. His post #4 clearly indicates he's aware of the proper way to play given the lateral water hazard markings on his course, but was merely settling an argument he was having with another player.

BTW, you may play your ball from a lateral water hazard even if it is in the water, ask Bill Haas.

Edit to add: Be aware also that a water hazard (lateral or regular) may be deemed sensitive environment and a local rule put in place that you may not play out of it.

Lol no need to even try and "argue" with your impeccable knowledge seeing as you can formulate your input on a certain matter without even reading the entire post.  (and to think you are the guy telling me to read a book!@!)  =P

I think we got the general idea.  If it's not a big deal, then it wouldn't hurt, but it's not necessary now.  Your last description seemed to seal the deal.  Thanks.

    • The MTB Prime and Prime X had issues with the cover being too soft and getting cut too easily. They said it was more prevalent in the Prime than the Prime X which I found odd because that was the exact opposite of my experience.
    • Day 120 - Played 18; much better than yesterday. Miss right now is off the heel of the club, so I need to sort that out.
    • Today we played Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth, NH. Course was in great shape but my game didn't show up. I will say I pitched and chipped fairly well but almost everything else was very hit or miss. Cost myself a lot hitting an in play drive with pulling my approach shots maybe 85% of the time. Finally figured out I had been swaying most of the round. Only took me until 13 to figure it out. Used what felt like a much more centered turn and the ballstriking improved. 18 tomorrow using a 2 man scramble format. Just looking to contribute. Been a blast though.
    • Day 22: Hit balls with 7-iron using mevo+ to track dispersion. Was out for a long time after work; 86 balls but the first 50+ were 50% swings focusing on top of backswing feel and then just hitting the ball as a psychic reward. Finished with 20 balls close to full speed. Pretty happy with dispersion and also no horrendous misses. I’m chunking my priority piece out into two separate feels, first and more important is the position/balance at top of backswing which is what I was working on. Once I have that engrained I’ll move to transition part.
    • FWIW I never really had issues with the previous generation of Snells. But… I'm not sure I played them a ton, either.
