Got my signs backwards. My point was that in your example, you're adding the benefit of a 2 iron when taking out the LW. In the OP's example, because he only has 12 clubs, adding the LW can't hurt since he doesn't have to remove a club to do so.

I said he might not benefit. Maybe he will but maybe for every great shot he'll duff two more. Not everyone has hours and hours to devote to practice (like you did with your putting as a kid  - another thread - just sayin').

So he's better off not trying? I'm not saying it's guaranteed benefit. I'm only saying I don't see a reason why he wouldn't add one.

I go 50, 55 (bent the 56 to 55), and 60 and use the same shaft with 1/4 length shaft increments - the purpose to get consistency between clubs. But 50, 56, 60 also works. I think of the 60 as being a specialty club for use around the greens more than a full swing club. I use the 60 for almost all shots around the green in rough, bunkers, tight spots, chips, soft pitches, delicate partials, etc. It's my get it close to the hole club from around the green, because right now, with swing changes, I don't hit a lot of GIR.

I like to take full swings ... not really the best at adjusting my stroke so  I say get the 60 as well ... I have 2 Vokey's ... the 56 and the 60 (Used to use the 56 for everything and realized after making myself play the 60 that it is now also a go to club)

A player should be able to adust their stroke. How do you take shots around the green? How do you play in the wind?

    • Can be out and up a little more. Not quite over-done yet.
    • Down the line and face on from today. Still feeling like I’m sticking the club into a hole in the ceiling above my right shoulder and then big loop inside to start downswing. That’s how it feels. Not how it looks though! Gotta keep working on this for a bit but I see a lot of progress. 😁
    • Day 5 (13 Mar 26) - Friday shootout cancelled- made it a practice round working from mixed tees. Plenty of up and down work around greens.  Best was a hole out birdie on the par 3 #5 hole - nice pitch and roll w/Pw from about 10yds off the green - dead center flagstick drop.  Much of round was focused on getting solid weight shift into lead foot.
    • Day 208 3-13 Worked on wrist arching and flow. First time hitting reall balls at a range in months. It was nice to see ball flight. Still not sure it beats my backyard practice station.
    • Three hole match - microphones on in the cart. It's fascinating listening to them talk about their shots and how they play them. I'm not normally a huge fan of the TM videos - they seem forced to me - but this one doesn't. It's also fun seeing their competitiveness over what on the face of it is a fairly meaningless 3 holes, but they can't help themselves.
