Close.  Its like 8k acres.  It is beautiful here and we do have a few nice local golf courses.  The biltmore estate brings in alot of revenue to this area. We go every couple years or so. Got some friends that work there so tickets are free.

Hmmm... I will just say it. Quit being a weiner and either play/practice by yourself, accept that if you are going to play with him, you will play his way or just pull up your sack and tell him that you don't enjoy playing with him because the negativity ruins it. 100+ scores are not unusual so there is no reason you can not keep it moving. I quit taking practice swings after I figured out that I could hit just as crappy of shot with or without them. Go to the range and get used to a quick preshot routine.

To bad he is like this tell him you do not enjoy playing with him and move on. Your not married to him!

Go by yourself and meet some new people, some maybe better/worse  or the same as you? There are some really cool people out there that would love to have you added to there group.

To bad my father inlaw was told by his friends he was no good so they did not want him to play with them anymore. Better he find out where he stands then to think they are okay with him.

So he plays with us instead, I dont care if your a pro or a hacker we are there to have fun. If you do not like the way we play go some place else you need to do the same.

I'd tell him "Pops, it's just not fun for me to play with someone who is always on edge about not playing fast enough.  I try not to waste time but I'm just not a good enough golfer to keep up with you.  I'm not enjoying being outside playing what should be a really fun game because I'm always worrying about the pace of play.  I think it's best if I play by myself or with other slower golfers until I get good enough to keep up with you."  And then when he asks how you're progressing, shake your head sadly and tell him "I'm getting a little better but I'm still not good enough to keep up with you."  Keep telling him that, even if you end up with a lower handicap than his.

I'm really conscientious about slowing things down too much on the course so to a friend I've been teaching to play over the last several years, I probably seem like your father-in-law, reminding him to take his putter with him to chip onto the green when we're riding, to leave his bag on the side of the green nearest the next tee when we're walking, to give up and hit another ball after a reasonable search, etc...  However, if no one is behind us, I don't usually care if someone is takiing an extra minute or two here and there.  I do hate playing with Hurry-Up Guy.  I've told some people before "I'f you're in such a hurry to finish up and get off the golfcourse, why do you bother?  Why don't you just do something indoors like bridge or bowling?"

    • Day 35 (6 Jan 26) - Got opportunity to play today, opted to mix it up - pulled Driver, 3w and 4h, keeping 7w, 5-Pw, 50 and 55 wedges and putter.  Played a set of tees up as well - goal: focus on the irons, especially the scoring clubs.  Had one of the sessions in a while (3 over 39 front, 6 over 42 back (a couple late round poor shot choices)).  Had a blast working a 10 club setup…
    • Day 17 - 2026-01-06 Mix of mat and net work, same focus on trail side and hands. Mirror work again later in the day.
    • Hi all. I have sought permission from admin to post this here. First, here's a quick link to my products on TST, which a few of the mods have been road-testing...  Most of you would be aware of the import tariffs imposed on importers to the US circa September last year. Prior to their introduction, I was selling a decent number each week into the 'States. Since the tariffs came in - which added ~AU$60 to the total cost of getting them over there - sales have dropped to virtually nil. I think fear of the tariffs is the biggest part rather than the actual cost increase, despite me declaring everywhere on my site that we pay the tariffs and have successfully got every order into the US without any problems since. What is still unknown to most US consumers is that these tariffs will DOUBLE in February as Australia Post will no longer be allowed to offer "private" rates, they all change to "commercial". I do indeed think that this will make the products uncompetitive to ship there. So what's the backstory?  I'm a small Aussie business, not some corporate juggernaut. I invented these products - not a reseller for someone else. The import tariffs double in February, so add another ~15% to the total cost. If you want StanceMate alone I can do a super deal on a run-out model PREVIEW HERE (note you cannot purchase this yet. I think the shipped price will be about AU$110 inc Shipping (tariffs included). If you want to reduce the cost of the whole Stryper Plus Bundle I can swap the runout StanceMate to reduce the overall price by AU$60. These work EXACTLY as the newer version, just not as premium quality in the way the finish is achievbed in production) IMPORTANT: All import tariffs are PRE-PAID at my end, and clears customs no problem. I've sent a half dozen since October with every one delivered. NB: I'm not here to get into the politics of the decisions on tariffs, so let's not go down that road. It is what it is! So StanceMate to your door in US - tariffs prepaid - about US$70 Bundle to your door in US - tariffs prepaid - US$240 Bundle (with version 1 StanceMate) to your door in US - tariffs prepaid - US$200 Cheers Corbs
