Hi Guys

I have the Titleist 910 d3 driver with aldila rip shaft , my swing speed is  average 115mph, i get around 270 meter drives on average with no wind. i get hardly any roll!!  any thoughts on the 913 d3 driver, would i get more distance, wit more roll??  Thanks Vivek

If you are not getting any roll... Then I'm guessing your ball flight is high (lots of spin) and you're ball is just ballooning into the sky, and dropping out of the sky due to gravity and not rolling?  If your swing speed is truly 115mph... Let me ask you some questions...

1.) What loft is your D3 head?

2.) What setting do you have the 910 D3 at (A1 is neutral)?

3.) What shaft do you have?

Give us more data...  I really doubt you'll hit a 913 D3 further just by taking the club off the rack from the average retailer.  You need to be properly fit into the shaft to maximize distances.

With that being said, you will also want to consider your setup and swing path.

Watch this video...

Once you have the proper setup and path... Then watch this video and you can see where to hit the face of the driver to maximize distance.

I'm guessing that you have too much spin with your driver.  You should hit up.  Hit just above center - toe side hit which will help you hit a draw and maximize swing speed, maximizing ball speed and minimize spin.  This equates to more distance.

With the 913, you get more forgiveness and better stock shafts.

The early word is you better get fit; don't expect the 913 to flight the same as the 910 given the same loft and similar shaft.

Make sure the fitter knows what he is doing and takes his time.

By the way, Beach - thanks for the videos.

I tried this out at a local Golfsmith yesterday to see how it feels. I also compared it to the 910 that I also have. I tested the 913D2 9.5 degree Diamana 63g stiff shaft. I also compared it to the 910D2 with the respective stock Diamana Kai'li stiff shaft. The immediate notice to me was the weight of the club head, which felt really light - almost similar to the TM offerings. As for distance, the 910 I was hitting about 267 average with roll. The 913, I was averaging about 278 with roll.

Keep in mind, this was just a rough try out of the driver and didn't get real solid numbers (swing speed, launch angle, etc) to take home and compare. But overall, there is a little more forgiveness off the face of the 913. Off-center hits still felt more solid than the 910. I still want to do more testing in the future to see if it's worth trading in or selling the 910 and maybe even wait for the Nike Covert to come out and make a decision then. But I can say that I am impressed.

I would still go and try it out for yourself to get a good feel for your swing. I only spent about 15 minutes testing this club, which is very minimal.

Best Regards,
Ryan

I have hit them both, and i own the 910.. what i found is that they are pretty much the same club look and feel wise, but i did see a little added distance with the 913.

Driver- Titleist 910 D2 RIP 60 S- shaft

3 wood- Taylormade RBZ S shaft

Hybrid- Taylormade superfast 2.0 S shaft

Irons- Titleist AP2 712 DG- S300

Wedges- titleist vokey sm4

Putter- SC Fast Back

I think stock shafts make the difference. While the stock offerings in the 913 are very good, better players, or those who have played exotic shafts, will find them as not giving enough life to the driver. It would be gratifying to see exotic shafts offered at a more reasonable price by Titleist.

For me, a middle aged guy, the Bassara 50 showed a lot of kick and life in the 913. I tried the i'lima but it did not "wow" me. And that's just my swing at the moment. The bottom line is get fit, and if you have a favorite shaft on the sidelines, you might want to get it fit with a Titleist adaptor.

Hi Beachcomber

The loft is 9.5 degrees, aldila rip 63g stiff shaft, i have it set to C1!  this setting gives me the most penetrating ball flight and also cut out a lil bit of my draw. i swing on an upswing and an in to out swing path.

Im asking if both clubs were struck in the middle, will the 913 D3 give me more distance over the 910D3

I thought B1 was neutral.

I don't have the club, but from what I've read and watched online (Youtube video reviews), A1 was neutral.  Anyone have an online 'key' to the settings?  Looks like the OP is at C1 setting.

I really think it depends on the shaft... And how your spin and launch numbers are effected. From what I've read, the 913 D3 will be a little more forgiving than the 910 D3 on mishits.

  • 4 weeks later...

If you want to get more distance I would go with the 913 D3 in a 7.5* and I would also get it with the Diamana White 72 x-flex. 115 mph is way to much for a s-flex to handle.

The 913 with different shaft options will give different results. Tinker around with the 2 in comparison if possible but I own a 913 D3 but snow hit the ground before I could use it, but from my understanding and knowing that shafts can play a huge difference, I would play around a bit with the two on a titleist sure fit cart!

    • 26 Nov 24 -  It was not a record breaking round by any means, but rather a simple walking of the back nine today playing TBWB (two ball-worse ball) where the challenge is to play the worse of the two shots played - could be an errant drive from the woods, a tree knocked ball that is 100 yds farther back down the fairway, a nGIR ball as opposed to a GIR….the goal today was to stay no worse than bogie thru nine.  Managed to achieve that goal - bogied 7 holes with one dbl and one par to counter the dbl.  It’s about staying focused and not letting a bad shot or lie derail, but rather be an opportunity.
