Hi guys,

Got a question. I'm about a 15-16 handicap currently hitting Ping G5 irons which I like, but after hitting a friends Callaway razr x hl's thought I should change to a more forgiving club like the Callaway's. I found the Callaways for $300 and ordered them, then noticed that they are made of aluminum and alloy instead of steel. Is this a concern? The more I read, it seems like the Pings are better constructed and higher quality. I guess what I'm asking is....are the Callaway's more forgiving than and really provide any more advantage than the Pings? Thanks!

You may be referring to the MULTIMATERIAL MEDALLION on the back of each HL iron.

Quote:

"Constructed of aluminum and thermoplastic polyurethane, it (medallion) fine-tunes sound and enhances feel off the clubface."

I phoned a Callaway rep today, and he said the contact portion of the clubhead is cast steel.

For several years, club manufacturers have used multiple metals and alloys within their iron and wedge heads. Polymer inserts are a related feature.

Focus, connect and follow through!
