We all have our favourite places to play at. Feel free to post them here with a little description of the course (where it is, what kind of course it is) and why it is your favourite (special holes, good conditions, etc).

Branson Creek. Its about 6 miles from Branson mo. Fazio design, managed by Troon. The course is always in great shape. Beautiful scenery of the Ozark Mountains. Its the #1 public course in the state and #60 in the country by golf digest. There is a gentleman that lives at pebble that flies in 4 times a year just to play Branson Creek. Now North of town is the Payne Stewart golf club. Another awesome course managed by Troon. Its about 10 years newer. Each hole has a tid bit about paynes life. They also designed it around some of Paynes most memorable shots. Very fun course, neat to see the Payne memorabilia in the club house. Golfweek rated Payne as the #1 public in the state. Both great courses. Out of the ones I have played on those are my favorite. Murder Rock in Branson is another Troon course thats very nice.

Mill Run Golf and Country Club in Uxbridge, Ontario. It's a nice and quiet course that's not too busy and well priced. What I like about it is it's three sets of 9-hole Championship courses. Each set of nine has a specific design to it; one that's designed for distance, one for doglegs and curves, and one that takes water into play a lot. What's nice is that every time you choose a different set of courses, you'll get a different experience, which I love.

Plus, its got all of the amenities of a high-end course without their price; excellent courses in top conditions, GPS golf carts, good clubhouse, great food, nice pro shop, etc. I think it also ranks in the top 10 or 15 best valued courses in the GTA.

They used to be only 18 holes then

I drove from TO to get cheap golf....gas wasn`t so expensive then.

Going to have to say Pinehurst #2 - or Aronimick...it is a coin flip. Both Donald Ross - but vastly different courses.

I have only played #2 once but fell in love and lucky enough to have been a guest at Aronimink more times then i can remember. Real tough call.

I could name one or more world class courses that I have been fortunate enough to play.  I think, however, the point of this query is to talk about each of our local favorites or regular haunts.

I have two.  Leslie Park Golf Course is the muni in my town of Ann Arbor, MI,  Lots of elevation changes, good maintenace and each hole is unique.  It is not so long that I can't play the tips (just about 6,700 yards) but they offer 5 sets of tees so everyone can enjoy themselves.

No. 2 is Hudson Mills Metro Park.  It is an uninspired design but I really like the folks that run the clubhouse.  Walking on is never a problem and often I can play 18 midweek with virtually no one else on the course.  It is a short drive from my office and a nice place to be alone on the golf course - a rarity these days.

The only relatively well known courses I've played at are the two at World Golf Village (King and Bear, Slammer and Squire) and also the two courses at World Woods north of Tampa.  The World Woods courses take the cake equally by comparison.  This should be no surprise, as they're well regarded by some national publications.  If not for it's limitations as a facility, this place would certainly be host to a lot more events, and I believe the courses are PGA tournament worthy based on the few that I've seen, including a Sunday at TPC Sawgrass.  The trouble is that it's an hour or more from anything, there's no facilities at all, and the layout wouldn't play well for crowds of any size, IMO (not much space between a lot of holes/fairways.  It's too bad though, because the course is kept in great shape year round and the fees are reasonable, especially in the warmer months if you can stand the heat.

After that my favorite course would have to be Juliette Falls, west of Ocala, FL in Dunnelon.  Meant to be an exclusive residential and private club, the downturn of the economy forced them to open up to the public, and I'm glad they did.  Pretty long but open enough to be playable for mid handicap players, some elevation, challenging greens.  Very good and attentive staff as well.  It's a little hard to find, which is too bad, but it's not but a 45 minute drive for me so I like to get down there from time to time.

In May I will be spending some vacation time in Phoenix and Sedona and have some pretty scenic courses in mind to play, so my list may be changing soon :)

1. Panther Lake at Orange County National, Orlando. Long and Beautiful course for big hitters...there is trouble but you won't be punished for good shots. The PGA Q School is held there.

2. The New Course, Grand Cypress, Orlando. Modeled after the Old Course at ST. Andrews, it is US links golf at its best.

3. Wherever I'm playing next.

I used to live in Mt. Pleasant, SC, and used to play at Patriots Point. Beautiful views of Charleston harbor. Very easy with no wind, all that you would want when the wind blows. Some of the truest bermuda greens I've ever putted.

Wyncote and Glen Mills for me. Not a ton of great courses IMO to choose from here in SE PA.

I tore that place up. I had such a great round when I played that course. It was a few weeks after the Q school (thank god). The only other course I think I played better was a round at Llanerch here in PA. A few horrible, disgusting, humbling rounds at Llanerch but one for the ages as well. I really enjoyed my trip to Orlando playing Crooked Cat and Panther Lake. Good times.

There are a tremendous amount of great coures in and around Philadelphia. Mary of them are private - I guess you could even argue most but there is no shortage.

Glen Mills is a very good public course certainly nothing to be ashamed of.

I live in mid-Michigan. There is a great number of wonderful courses to choose from. For muni - Groesbeck in Lansing. Within 30 minute drive I have Hawk Hollow, Timber Ridge and Eagle Eye. A couple hour drive away you can add Tullymore and St. Ives. Do I need to say more.

Yes, I should have clarified I meant public courses. Have played a few of the private courses but 95% of my rounds are on public courses.
