Here in Indianapolis, a new Golfsmith just opened right next door to a Golf Galaxy...I mean 100 yards away. I went in today to get a new scotty grip at GG and thought what the hell, I will check out Golf Smith. I walked in and was amazed at the showroom and the indoor driving range. I went to look at grips and bags and turned right around and went next door. The prices are quite a bit higher than Golf Galaxy. I ended up purchasing a new bag and grip for under 200, where Golf Smith wanted 200 just for the bag and didn't carry Scotty grips. I think, when it's time, I will try the club(s) out at GS and walk next door to purchase.

fyi guys. golf smiths are notorious for rigged their indoor driving ranges to say you are hitting it much farther than you are. a tip: whenever you demo a new driver, also "demo" a 5-iron that you know how far it goes.

I had a good experience at Golfsmith a few weeks ago. Due to my height, the clubs had to be bent far more than they supposedly can be bent. The shop guy couldn't do it and said I'd need to special order forged irons. The manager said he could do it with no problems, and he was right.

He also knew they had a "used" set of the same clubs for about 2/3 the price, and six of the eight clubs had obviously never been hit. The other two had only been hit a couple times at a range. Fitting was still free, even with the clubs being used. Things couldn't have turned out better.
