Hey everyone,
I recently have made a fairly significant swing change and so far results are looking to be in the right direction. Although, my new swing is making good results on my iron game, I am still struggling with the new swing on my woods and driver. Should my swing remain the same for all clubs (alignment obvious changes for each club) or should my swing for my woods differ slightly? Any thoughts? Any tips?

Thanks ahead for your replies!
Steve

I try and make the same swing with every club in the bag. Obviously a flop shot or punch would require a special swing, but for my standard high fade I just take the same swing with gap wedge through driver. Usually the results are completely different, but trying to make your muscles change every other shot would be difficult for anybody.

How about you tell us:

a) what you were doing b) what changes you've made c) what results you've seen with the new swing with both your irons and woods?

Wow, i'm running it to the exact same problems.

I was told at first to keep my left elbow locked straight. While doing this I i could not draw the club back very far. Now I've "re-vamped" my swing to where i tuck my right elbow in on the back swing and i've started hitting the ball straighter and further (on my irons). I just got my new driver (in sig.) yesterday and went to the range, and this swing doesn't work well with it. My OLD driver (quadpro 8.5), this worked fine.

About 1/3 shots was good with my driver, meaning distance was 220-250 and VERY straight. The others were either short and straight, or far and slicing.

I know i'm doing something different and not swinging consistently, i'm going to sign up for lessons next week to see if they can't help me fix this. Unless you guys have some miracle tips that help on the course tomorrow!!!
I'm only at 13 clubs in the bag, what do you reccomend as a 14th? My foot wedge?

    • No. If there was a place no closer to the hole that afforded some relief, you could have dropped there. If you were truly as far away from the hole as you could, in the "back" of the bunker, then… your options were basically to play it as it lies (lied? lay?) or take the penalty stroke and drop behind the bunker (keeping the point where the ball was between your drop and the hole).
    • Day 121 - Had a tournament today, not my best. I was hitting everything off the heel.
    • Day 4 (5 May 24) - mirror work focused on “feel of weight” transfer onto lead foot.  Continued work to develop trust in lead foot being able to handle full weight pressure…
    • Ok, so I’m still confused here. Are you saying I could have used the only available Spot in the bunker even though it was 6-7 feet closer to the hole?
    • Yes. If you choose to take the ball out of the bunker instead of taking maximum available relief… it costs a stroke.
