I've heard it mentioned so many times, but am not quite sure what it means when a golf club gives it's user good feedback. Does this have something to do with the way a golf ball feels coming off a club, or does it have a deeper meaning?

It means exactly that.  On a hit in the center of the face, the ball will seem to effortlessly fly off face.  Almost like it wasn't there.  If you are off-center, there will be more vibration and twisting of the head and therefore the shaft.  This feedback will be felt in your hands.  More forgiving clubs and some materials can dampen this feeling somewhat.  With less forgiving clubs, you will feel the off-center hits more.

As Boogie mentioned- yes, it can be related to the quality of ball contact. BUT- it can also be used to determine a ball you like with less than full shots, putting, etc... A ball can feel 'wrong' even with a perfect strike. A distance rock will not feel the same as a high tech 5 piece "pro" type ball. You might need to compromise between the two extremes based on how they feel on various shots, and on the results of each of those different shots. I have always gone with less distance off the tee to gain 'feel' and touch on approach shots and putting. Fortunately, I have the distance that I don't need rocks to get those extra 10 yards or whatever they advertise.
