In the effort to understand what a truly good impact position is for the driver I would like to pose a question about two positions. PGA tour players seem to have more trailing heel off the ground than I thought and their shoulders/hips seem to be more open than I thought. What does doing these two things seem help in the driver swing?

I'm going to go out on a limb and take a wild guess while we wait for the more advanced stupid monkeys respond. They are hitting a ball on a tee that is positioned further forward in their stance and likely swinging up, I'm guessing that in practical terms that means they are reaching impact later in their swing than they are with an iron. Hence their trail heel has lifted further and the hips are more open. I'm just guessing though...I'm a stupid-ier monkey than most and not in a good way.

That could very well be the case. It seems a bit like too much rotational movement to me though. If it were a negative I would imagine that these guys would correct it, so I can only imagine it must help or be indifferent then.
