Philadelphia Cricket Club is a great club, although a little pricey. The restored Wissahickon course is worth the price of admission but, when they first built the second 18 (Militia Hill course), they had a significant membership drive offering a manageable initiation fee and an ala carte dues structure, where you could just join for golf. They have since changed that and you have to be all-in, which includes state-of-the-art racquet sports from squash to beautiful grass courts and a nine hole course next to their main clubhouse a few miles away from the golf complex. The nine hole course (St. Martins) is part of their original course where they played 2 US Opens in 1907 and 1910 and they have just finished a beautiful restoration there as well.

They have since lost a lot of members who joined under the old dues structure, but they are not at a loss for replacement members and heavily recruit young college age kids. They are pretty much a lock now to win the Golf Association team matches every year. Very different from the days when I caddied there and my Dad would have been denied membership because he was Irish Catholic.

    • Day 2: did my Evolver drill in the mirror.  No club, just did the motion. And this time I am confident I am doing it correctly.
    • Nothing is assured and lots of talented young athletes in many sports fail to achieve greatness. as was said, injuries, growth, lots of things can come into play, And let’s let honest, over the years a few players have been branded “The Next Tiger Woods” and yet there is only 1 Tiger Woods. My initial point was if he can do a great breakout it may capture the attention of a new generation.  Back in the 70s it was Secretariat in horse racing, we also had Jordan in basketball and let’s not forget Tiger for golf.  Stories get people interested and I think golf needs a new story. I will pull for him and hope it works out but there are so many factors that come into play you just do not know, But I can hope.
    • Day 114: 4/19/24 Chipping and putting practice. Tried a little hinge and hold with good results, which has never been the case during a real round. Playing tomorrow and eager to play.
    • I don't think I've found any of the Good Good stuff, or the guys that were once a part of it, very interesting.
    • Day 535, April 19, 2024 30 minutes in the middle of the day while doing errands and a bunch of other things. Behind. Behind.
