I'm thinking about ditching my 64 degree wedge for something to fill the gap between my PW and SW. I'm looking for a 50-52 degree wedge that I can hit like a high iron and also wedge, when need be. What would you guys recommend?

Is your PW part of your iron set, or is it another model?

What are the lofts of your SW and PW, and what is the yardage gap between the two?

Do you like the model of your current SW, maybe find a GW in the family?

You are saying you want a wedge that you can hit like a wedge. Buy a wedge.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

lol

I tried out a few and ended up with the Ping Rustique 52. It's ok. I'm not in love with it, but it was relatively cheap and does what I want it to do.

No, he wants a wedge that can play more like a high iron and a wedge.  My wedge set is very dis similar to my irons.  He could probably find a cavity back 52 that would suit his needs more than a normal wedge.

And what do we mean by a "normal" wedge? Many iron sets feature CB wedges.

Sounds like he's looking for a cavity back wedge to use for full shots, with the occasional pitch or chip shot.

Here are a few options you might want to check out. Go to your local golfshop and see if you can demo any of them.

Full disclosure, I have zero experience with playing CB wedges. Hope this helps.

Yeah the PW (44*) is part of my iron set and my SW (56*) is a pretty cheap one that I picked up for $20, but love it. It's too bad it's not a common brand that I don't think is sold anymore.

I hit about 100 yards with the PW, but I'm not sure how far I can hit with the SW, since I rarely use it from 50+ yards. This is why I would like to get a 52 wedge that acts sort've like a high iron and wedge, kind of like a "transition" club of some sort, and one to hit between that range.

Yes this is exactly what I want. Any bounce recommendations too?

Since you plan on using it mostly for full shots, get as much bounce as you can.

Search for an Adams Idea Tech V3 Forged PVD Gap Wedge on ebay, just got one myself really cheap for exactly the same reasons. I needed a club for 80 to 100 yards from the fairway and the loft on my P wedge is 44 so it's more of a traditional 9 iron and used from 110 to 125
