Hey guys, I am a recently new member from cape cod. Looking for some help planning a golf trip. There will be 8 of us and looking for some suggestions. Here's our plan. Leave cape cod Friday drive no more than 5 hours. Play 18 Friday, 27 Saturday, and drive home Sunday. Any suggestions on places other than mass, nh, and Maine? We've already visited these states. Thanks for any help

I may be a little late responding, but I did a trip last Spring to NH and VT. We played Bretton Woods Mt. Washington in NH, and Okemo & Green Mtn National in VT. Great trip!

I may be biased since I live nearby but the Black at Bethpage should be at the top of that list for places in the NE. I'm down there almost every weekend (not playing Black) but there are always times available, the first of the day you need to camp out for but you can easily walk up and book an afternoon time.

The red course is also no slouch and could help you out with hitting multiple courses. I've only been playing for about a year so I've never played the black but its absolutely beautiful and I've played the red and that thing makes for a long day as well. The Blue and Green courses are fantastic as well.

Obviously east end of LI has some great tracks as well.

I guess I didn't realize Cape Cod was that close to Long Island, or NY in general.  Yea, there are tons of courses to choose from.

Run a list of the top 10 public access in each state or something and check them all out online

Especially if you take one of the ferries (Orient-New London or Port Jefferson-Bridgeport), it's not a bad drive.

    • Birdied the par 5 #14 at Quail Brook GC. Hit a high draw 3W just short of the green on my second shot, chipped just right of the back right flag to about 12' and made the putt. It's starting to look like I'm going to get at least 20 rounds at Quail Brook for it to qualify as my home course but I've been adding the birdies there to my away composite for so long that I don't feel like separating it all now. So the away composite will simply be an aggregate of all my birdie holes for the year.

    • Day 1 - First chipping and pitching. Focus on a better grip, the fundamentals and taking the club back on plane, not outside. Feels good. Then some full swings. Focus on improving the setup. Weight more forward, more bent over, and same grip stuff.
    • Congrats on the improvement. Cheers for lots of continued improvement in the future. IMO you've gotta get away from these spots… Those are partly "results" as the work will begin on things earlier in the swing. Good luck.
