Hello fellow golfers.

I'm an old timer (age 62) who started playing in the days of persimmon woods (how I miss my 1,2,3, and 4 woods), took a short break from golf (41 years) and returned in December '06.  Shocked by today's poor quality equipment  but amazed how far it hits, notwithstanding that the balls hit shorter. I've tested the new balls against the old smaller ones.

Immediately dragged screaming onto the international longdrive circuit before I could barely break a hundred and only now have  just caught my breath and am again working at my short game. But I doubt that I'll ever be as good as I was as a young teenager.

Became both a clinical hypnotherapist and a club builder in order to try to get both my head and equipment in gear.  The never ending U.K. economic recession permanently put me out of work as a property lawyer so now I build custom golf drivers and get involved in various aspects of golf. Golf seems to have been my preoccupation for 16 hours a day since I came back.

I've been lucky insofar as my custom built drivers have won both European and World Longdrive Championships.

Recently divorced so re-located to Wales where I have joined both the St. Giles and Maesmawr Golf Clubs.  So I'm not so lonely now, and the local sheep don't seem quite so attractive.  I visit the local health club and find sports facilities in Wales far more cheaper than in England.

Just returned from (very expensive) Sweden where I again finished 2nd in the European Longdrive Championships. The eternal bridesmaid. Ah well.

Any golfer visiting mid-Wales please look me up. You don't have to wear a short skirt.

Now you're going waaaay back.  The last time I played a small ball was at least 40 years ago.  And you're right, they went a long way!
