its not an accuracy problem its a distance one if it was accuracy i would agree with you

Would take a guess its your driver shaft! your shaft might be too stiff for your swing speed? In which you'll sacrifice distance for accuracy, it's a fair trade off! Could even be your ball is too hard! and your not compressing it enough with your current swing speed? Wrong shaft and wrong ball = less distance! Failing this, it would definitely be your swing! Get ya swing checked before spending cash on a new set up!

I'm ok with the distance i get right now with my driver because i'm still a teenager

9 iron is 140 yards my drive is 220-240. Is this normal?  i played with some people at my local course yesterday. When they were taking a 6 iron i was using a 9 iron however my drives where only as far as their drives.  When i first started i was fitted for my driver which is a high launch (guessing 12 or 13) loft with and is offset.  My question is have i outgrown my driver or am i expecting unrealistic distances with my driver?  many thanks  Luke

I didn't read your post well enough earlier. This is actually a question I might be able to answer. I have a 12 degree regular shaft ping g10, 9.5 degree burner "stiff" and a 10.5 degree Ping g15 with a stiff shaft that's been frequency tested to Xstiff. The burner is more like a regular shaft and hits the longest distance (about 15% to 20% more), but it feels too light to me. It hurts my wrist somewhere at the bottom of the swing. The g10 hits really high, but almost as far as the burner. The ball seems to disappear into the sky, but eventually comes down. I don't like the flight. I sometimes can't find my ball when playing on the course. My g15 in general has a lower ball flight and goes the shortest. It feels more in control. Eventually, I will probably add some lead tape on the head. I have been using the g15 since I want to be able to find the ball for the second shot. The type iron makes a big difference in your distance as well. I have burner 1.0 irons, ping i10 and Cleveland CG tour irons. The burner 1.0 9 iron goes about 145 yards, I10 about 140 and the Cleveland about 125. I use the Cleveland irons so that I can learn to hit the ball in the sweetspot. Plus, my off center hits only go about 2 to 4 yards less than a good hit. This is kind of nice. So, if I used my burner 9 iron i would hit 145 and my ping g15 driver 230 (on good hits). My game configuration is my Cleveland and ping g15 which means I get a 125 yard 9 iron and 230 yard drive.

to the OP:

Please describe your ball flight on both driver and 9-iron -- high, low, straight, draw, fade, hook slice...

Have you seen your swings on video? Anything different between clubs like length of backswing?

Where is you ball position on your driver? How far forward toward the lead foot?

OP, just read my previous post and ignore everyone else! They'll just confuse you! I am the voice of reason and am rarely, if ever, wrong!

I don't think there is really anything to concern yourself with. My average drive is between 230 & 240 and my 9 iron is my 135 club. Sounds Reasonable to me.

    • Day 23: weird day, and only had a little bit of time. Just did mirror work again, working on where the elbow is in the downswing
    • I flipped over to this tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Anyone else watch? I picked it up during the golf relay event, but seeing these pros out having fun in alternative events was refreshing and entertaining. I’m sure it will be on in reruns in the next week or so, so I won’t spoil the outcome. Im curious what others thought of it. I’m recording it’s later airing to see the beginning.
    • Day 443 - 2025-12-17 Made a few swings in testing some things out at another academy. Might pop up on someone else's podcast in a few weeks.
    • Day 37 (17 Dec 25) - nine hole round with my good friend.  We got paired up with a couple of the men’s group regulars as part of their shootout.  Started off with a wonderful quad bogie and then a dbl on three to be six over thru three holes.  Game went 180° over the next five as I shot one under (including a chip in birdie on hole six and four up and down 1 putt pars) for a net finish of five over. What could have been a really tough nine became a solid finish due to staying in the moment and not checking out.  Great day in course management and keeping perspective .
    • Day 127 12-17 Backswing and flow practice. Took advantage of the 60 degeee weather(it was 20 degrees Sunday)
