I play off 10, and am confident I can get down to 6/7 fairly soon. I have quite a powerful swing, 7 iron goes about 170 yrds. I reckon i need stiff shafts.

My old Wilson Fat Shaft 6 iron snapped due to old age (made a hell of a sound!) so i took it as a hint to buy new irons.

I need a decent set of blades (3-PW) for around £200 (second hand of course). I was thinking ping i3 blade, taylormade TP combo, taylormade 300 forged, Ping ISI or Titleist 704.CB. Would like some mizunos but they look a bit expensive. I dont care about age, as long as they are good clubs and will last for a while.

Any other ideas? Golfbidder and ebay are my main options.

According to pgavalue guide (got the link off the value of my clubs thread) mp-32's that are good quality are worth $300, you might be able to find them for the $400US your budget holds, I'd recommend them. Good luck

The Ping I3 Blade isn't a true blade. They offered the I3 in an O-Size (optimum size) and a Blade, which was a smaller head size but same design. A great club nonetheless.

Not sure how it will fit into your price range but if you want to continue with Wilson irons that are from the same time you could check out Wilson Deep Red II Tour irons. While they technically aren't blades, their smaller head size and muscleback can be appealing to a guy of your handicap. At least they work for me. And for me my seven goes about 175 so its about your range.

How about Mizuno MP 33's. Got to be one of the best blades of all time and I see them all the time pretty cheap on used racks. Getting a set that isn't beat up may be a bit tough though.

Check out some of Tommy Armour's line. They've got some fine looking forged stuff. Go to Proshopwarehouse.com that's where I've seen them at very reasonable prices.

I believe what you're trying to say by using the word "blades" and then listing a few of your ideas is that you're looking for more of a "player's iron".

If you want true, old-school blades -- and are coming from Wilson ownership -- try the Wilson Staff Fluid Feel Tour Blades from the 1980s, or Wilson's FG-17 blades from the same era. These irons were the #1 "player's irons" in the pre-Nike and pre-Mizuno era. I bought mine new in 1985.

If you want smaller, "blade-like" cavity backs that tour pros put in their bags (like the 704 CB model you mentioned), check out the Titleist DCI 962 irons. I bought mine used just recently.

http://www.titleist.com/historical_c...ails.asp?id=18

I think those options are well within your budget and are truly top-notch player's clubs that have stood the test of time.

Can't go wrong with Ping I3 "blades" either (but they will probably cost you more than my other two options, methinks).

I have no affiliation with the site whatsoever, but check out Houseofforged.com for ideas and research. If you want to see some pretty, PRETTY old-school blades, click around there.

I immediately thought of Mizuno MP-33/14/29 or Titleist 690MB's. Maybe even a Hogan Apex. The ones you listed don't seem to be blades, but more of a players cavity back. I bought a set of the 690CB's on ebay for $300, which is 150 British Pounds.

Wow, you're not likely going to find a better deal than that. Snap them up! If you don't want them, I'd be glad to cover shipping for myself.

If you want MP-32's... don't buy them used. You can buy them BRAND NEW on Ebay for around $350.

I was shopping online for some new irons and saw the MP-32's around $200 with like 2 hours remaining. If I were good enough to hit blades I would have hopped all over this seeing as how they go for $849.99 in retail stores. Anyways, the bids ended at $331.67! I was so amazed at how little it went for I messaged the seller and said I would buy these same irons if they had them in stock. They did! However, he said he would give them to me for $349.99 as the auction price was little lower than he wanted to go. I didn't get them because I had to buy Christmas gifts for the family, but when I am ready, those will be my next clubs.

I am in NO way affiliated with this seller at all. Just want to help you guys get some great deals for some authentic brand new MP-32's.

The sellers' name is Greatgolfsales on ebay. He has some buy it now's and auctions for some more 32's. The BIN are at 500 something but it says or best offer. You can try to get it for $350, he was going to give them to me for that. So good luck! I know he was willing to go that low.
