I am new to the game and have looked for quite a while for a new sgi iron set. I have liked all the adams I have hit and have been looking used per suggestion. Today I found an a3 set (not a3os) 345 hybrid and 6-pw at a local pawn shop. It looks like they threw them on the shelf the way they were brought in and a little dirty. I polished on them for a minute and it looks as if the dirt is the only thing wrong with them. They are asking 130 for them. Is that a decent deal? How do they compare to the newer stuff like the a12 os? Im thinking of pulling the trigger but wanted to get some input. Thanks!!

Adams are good clubs; especially for a beginner.  As far as value; check ebay.  You don't have to buy them on ebay, but you always haggle at pawn shops..  What they are asking is not the real price.  Find a comp set on ebay, then use the price to get them at the pawn shop for less.

I like my set. Have them for about a year and a half. 4-5-6 hybrid-irons are real nice. I hit them better than a standard-type iron. Very forgiving and, put a good swing on them, WOW.

Irons feel great, 7 takes a little getting used to but its worth the time. Rest of the irons also very good. Solid forging...let them do the work and they will.

Thanks for the input guys!! Any other thoughts? This trigger finger us getting mighty itchy! What is the differe ce between a3 and a3 os? Is the os more forgiving? Newer??

Well I did it. I lucked out and a local golf shop had the same set that was nearly beaten beyond recognition but enough was left to hit and know I had to have them. The golf shop wanted 100 bucks for the set that looked like they had been drug down a gravel road behind a truck and they averaged 150 on ebay and I got them for 100! I also picked up a used cleveland cg10 56* and a new oddysse metal x 2. It was a good day!
