Palm Springs Golf Courses

Hey guys,

Ive been tasked with setting up a golf game for a mens retreat weekend in Palm Springs. Its last minute, I hadn't planned on being to organizer, but now IM stuck. I have only golfed in Palm Springs once (in a tournament I got invited to) so I dont know the area at all. Can someone, anyone, point me in the direction of a few good courses that are in the cheaper range. $30-$40 green fees. But that are also fun courses, and in good condition. I realize you gotta pay to get great golf out there, but its a bunch of guys who just want to play for fun and don't want to pay a bunch of money to do it. Handicaps are all over the place, from 4 's to 25's…

Basically, I would like to find a course that is different from all the regular old municipal courses we already have. But price is probably more important than the scenery.

I played Desert Willow back in July and loved it.  I get email deals from them nearly every day so you might be able to find coupons and things ... or, according to their website they are $55 twilight (after 1 pm) until October 10th.

La Quinta, PGA West, Indian Wells... multiple courses, all good.  Don't know your price range but there is something for everyone.  I think I once counted something like 70 golf course in the valley.  My favorite is the Vintage but you have to know someone to play there.

So many great courses, but its going to be tougher to play them at your price range through the fall and winter months. Dessert Willow for sure if the price works for you.  If you plan on playing more than 18 a day, ask about the "turn around" fee that allows you to play another 18 in the afternoon.  Its usually cheap and even if the first round is a bit pricey, if you are playing 36, you can play the better courses and average out to the dollar figure you are looking for. ( if I recall Dessert Willow a ridiculously cheap "turn around" fee, something like $25 that allows you to play the other course in the afternoon).  Cimmaron is cheap and a reasonable play (but not nearly to the standards of the other courses mentioned above).  Tahquitz is another of the less expensive but reasonable tracks.  All of the other ones I have played there are pricey.

Plenty of information out there on Palm Springs courses.  I love the place.

I just played Cimarron Bolder course, last month it was a lot of fun. We paid $25 per adult, $18 for my son.

It was very well keep, just a fun day, not sure what the cost is for for the month you want to go?

Prices should still be ok but you'll run into some less than ideal conditions at many courses as next month many will be overseeding. If I was you, I'd take a look at Eagle Falls... it's connected with Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio and is a really good course. Through September 29 their rates are $39/$49 (Weekday/Weekend).

Tahquitz Creek has two courses, Legends, or Resort.... Is one better than the other? Its around my price range at $40ish.

I would love to play some of the others, but I know my wallet wont allow me. Thanks for the suggestions! Keep them coming!

What is the difference between the Boulder course and Pebble course?

Played Tahquitz Creek I believe it was Legends could be wrong? I did not care for it even though I had a great round  but my father in law and son really liked it, And the price was great, it was well keep also.

I really just want the best course I can play for under $50, and probably even $40 or under. Because Im not the only one playing I have to worry about other guys' budgets too. $0 for Palm Springs golf is reasonable I think. Im looking at these 4 courses...

Indian Canyons South - $30ish

Any pros or cons for any of those courses that anyone knows would be great thanks!

Remember that Cimarron has a 18 hole par 3 style short course that is cheaper I have not played it. The one I told you about was a full par 72. I would play there again any time I am out in the PS area. Even my father in law has gone back twice since we played. Had nice fairways and greens more of a links style course, bunkers were fun to get out of and the sand was okay. Not a real hard course but no shade at all.

Tahquitz was okay again i was not that impressed, could not really tell you why but once was enough, seemed old not what I expect from PS with my limited experience there. Again this is just me you know how some courses just don't suit you.

I have not played the others.

Between the two courses at Tahquitz Creek, the Resort is the much better one. Legends isn't worth it to me. I've only played one of the Indian Canyons courses (I can't remember which) and wasn't all that thrilled by it.

As far as Cimarron goes, the Boulder is a full length 18 hole course and the Pebble is a 18 hole par three course. I've only played the Boulder once and it's just ok I thought, nothing special.

Indian Springs is a good course, I'd recommend that one.
