First, Welcome to The Sand Trap!
I would be mindful of your grip. It looks like you have that right hand really underneath the club.
Also, the ball position is way too far back for that length of iron. Never play any normal full swing iron shot with the ball behind the middle of your stance. Typically with mid to long irons you want it between your lead foot and the middle of your stance.
It's not a bad swing. You got a pretty solid spot at A4.
You also get stuck. Your right elbow is right on your shirt seem. Your club is way behind you.
This might be a thread you want to take a look at. I think if you get your hands down a tad faster and keep turn you will get from being stuck.
Like I've previously mentioned to you @cutchemist42, you and I seem to hit the ball a similar length. Our swings (definitely my swing) have some flaws that limit the distance on the majority of our shots. Once in a while we screw up and hit it a heck of a lot longer than usual. I had a freak 5-wood go 220 not very long ago. Emphasis on the word freak.
The pain in the ass part is that it shows you what is theoretically possible.
Golf is a mystery. Yesterday I started this post because I'd played my worst rounds of the year prior to taking a couple trips two weeks ago. I had a little angst about playing in league last night so I thought I'd post. Then I went out and shot a 40 complete with 3 different 3 putts.
IanW I used your strategy on this hole that's plagued e all year. It's a long par 5 that has a very narrow fairway entrance from the tee box. I've been in the trees on the right many times, usually adding 2 strokes minimum because of the rough or penalties. Yesterday I hit my 5 iron off the tee and landed safely on the right side of the fairway 160 out. I could've made par if I'd just had more distance on my 2nd or 3rd shot. Anyway, here's my round
I had a hard enough time riding the cart on Sunday. The temperature was about 95 and the heat index was definitely triple-digits. Slamming water the whole way, my buddies and I were a total mess. Not sure if it was just a bad round or what, but I made more than my share of stupid plays. I wasn't hitting the ball well for sure, but dumb mental mistakes buried me.
Walking in that. Forget it.
