Around this time last year my brother flew in. We went to The Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan, MN.

Being a lover of alcohol, his first stop was at the bar. He greets the bat tender and asks how she is doing. I kid you not, she replies, "Pretty good, I just took the biggest dump in the bathroom and that was a pretty good start to my shift."

I forget if he had a reply or not, but he said it was the most awkward way he has ever been greeted at a golf course. I a not sure this will ever be topped for him.

Swing like bamboo in wind; ball still laughs.

Haha, wow.

About a month ago there was a fire deal of golfnow for, I think, one of the nicer courses in the area so I signed up to play.  I got to the clubhouse and there was a young guy out front fetching carts, loading bags, getting drinks, sort of a concierge I guess.  He comes up to me and introduces himself and asks my name and recalls my tee time, all extremely formal.  I started to panic a little bit because I was like oh shit, this place is too fancy for me... Then a couple older guys, probably around 70, walk up and the kid goes to work on them.  After getting their cart and loading their bags one of them goes to give the guy a tip and asks if he has change.  The kid goes I sure do, and pulls this 3 inch thick ( folded) wad of bills out of his pocket.  The old guy sees it and says Geezus Bob, look at this guy's jew roll!  The kid just kinda smiled and laughed but I had to walk away quickly before I busted out laughing.  It was a little bit awkward but also very funny, I wish I had a video camera for it.

If a guy hands me a twenty and asks if I have change, I pull out a one, smiling of course.

Last Winter I was talked into being the fulltime seasonal Player Services Supervisor at a 400 member course in Florida, to implement some new employee-unfriendly rules and to initiate a heightened level of customer service.

Part of that was to get the bagdrop people to greet and meet in the parking lot, rather than stand around saying stuff like, "Watch this guy.  He'll carry his bag all the way in rather than reach in his pocket for a buck."

I pulled up to the trunk of a car, waiting to get their bags, and the couple just stood there and stared at me.  Then they said, "Eleven years and no one has ever done this."

I was not asked back this year.

Go figure.
