After a custom fitting, I learned that my clubs/shafts were good, but should be bent 2* flat. I have 2009 Callaway Razr X's (I'm guessing on the year, but know I'm very close). After reading stuff online, I found that most fitters don't like bending these clubs because they are difficult to bend without breaking them. That realization got me into looking into knew clubs and the excitement of potentially getting new sticks took over. Man, I love those Apex irons!! Just to check it out, I called Callaway. I was ultra impressed with what I learned. If I send my clubs to them (which I did today), they would bend them and ship them back - FREE OF CHARGE! I couldn't believe it. All I am paying is the $34 to Fed Ex the clubs to them. Maybe all manufacturers do this for free? I don't know, but Callaway definitely earned a bunch of customer appreciation points from me! If you have clubs and shafts that fit you well, but the lie angle is off, check with the club manufacturer. It might be really cheap to get the change made.

PING & Adams have in the past. $34 FedEx from where to where? Sounds pretty steep to me. FedEx Ground?

I just went to my town's FedEx store. They are shipping from Central Indiana to California. I didn't even think about checking other places as I had NO idea what the cost would be and $34 seemed reasonable. I guess I'll check around if I ever have to do something like that again...

Reason I ask is that I ONLY use FedEx Ground to ship irons and it's never more than $15-$17 from here (Ohio) to anywhere in the country. (lower 48) They're the cheapest for shipping iron sets and that price sounds double.

I thought I'd provide one last update for this...

I received my clubs back today and the lie angles are much better.  To my surprise, they also regripped the clubs.  I had Winn grips on them before that were right at a year old.  The grips they put on were the exact same grips as I had before.  So, when I regrip this year, I'll just have to do my driver, 3 wood, 3hybrid, SW, and LW.

From what I can tell online, Callaway owns Winn.  I wonder if they would have regripped the clubs if I would have had a different brand grip on them?

    • Hello all.  I'm about to be 57 yrs old, started playing when I was 16, and have quit and restarted the game more times than I can count.  I had started playing a weekly round with a friend, and finally made the jump to Senior A shafted Tour Edge clubs.  Instantly gained 10 yds with an easier swing (why didn't I make that jump sooner???).  Glad to be a part of the group. Cheers all,
    • I think I like this hole.  It is a clear "Risk-Reward" choice.  Since most of the shots in your cone cleared the bunkers I would say they are a minor risk and not a big issue.  Playing the aggressive line may give you 70ish yards in from what looks to be playable rough while conservative play is 120ish from fairway.  I know you said 70 vs 120 is minor for you but how does the approach angle in impact your results?  I figure both strategies are playing for Birdie since holing out from either is mostly luck. Looking at your proximity hole I think it says @ 50 feet when hitting from the fairway from 100-150 and 40 feet if hitting 50-100 from the rough.  Neither of those is an easy birdie putt.   I like the approach angle from the rough between the bunkers & the adjacent tees over the angle from @ 120 in the fairway but I really do not like the idea of hitting onto the adjacent tee boxes and that may impact my confidence with making the shot.  Also, too far left may be a worse approach angle then from the fairway short of the bunkers. For me this may come down to how confident do I feel when I reach that tee box.  If I am stroking it well off the tee leading up to the hole I would try for over the bunkers and the better angle in but if I am struggling that day I would likely opt for the fairway to take more bad stuff out of play.
