Thoughts: Not overly surprised about LSU. Alabama still very sloppy but fairly talented. (Same old same old Yo Yo). No quit in Tennessee. (Slightly surprised). Wild one going on right now with Ohio State and Penn State, (Surprised). TCU lots of 3 pointers and offensive rebounds? ;-)

D-lines for both teams were out right punking the O-lines in that OSU- Penn State game. Bosa just obliterated that poor running back on that last play. Great effort by Penn State, but I'll take any win and move on. :-D

Couldn't agree more. Except about taking the win..I'm a PSU fan and that was a heck of a game... How bad were the refs tonight tho...not in terms of for/against either team, but just in general

I like how they took a time out away from Ohio State to make up for calling a fake time out against Penn State. Both coaches were, "I didn't call a time out" :-D There was only 12 total penalties, and I thought they were pretty decent calls. Though Bosa did get away with ripping the QB's helmet off. That illegal block below the knees was borderline. Overall I thought they let both teams play.

They seemed really unorganized throuout and the whole timeout ordeal just made laugh.. Although I'll never understand how the review team wasnt able to overturn the Hackenberg INT early on. All in all I'm glad the Big10 had a great showing on nat'l TV. Been getting a lot of disrespect lately

From what I heard, they couldn't get the right video to the review booth. So they had to leave the play stand. That happened to OSU when Tressel was a coach. A clear fumble wasn't given to OSU.

Oh. I forgot to mention to Tennessee fans.

I was impressed with Joshua Dobbs at quarterback. I think he's a difference maker for them and I'm not looking forward to watching Alabama face him again next year.

I was impressed with him as well. All reports from spring practice on was that Peterman was not at all impressive and Dobbs was much worse. When they announced that Whorley was definitely out, I thought UT would get beat worse than A&M; did. And it started out looking the same. I think it was a much bigger stage and atmosphere and much more experience football team than most of those young starters were ready for. There youth and inexeperience showed tremendously in the first quarter. But my hat is off to the entire coaching staff. They coralled and rallied those guys and got them focused abd settled down and playing their game. Joshua Dobbs stepped up as a leader and brought a huge new dimension to a struggling and down right pitiful Volunteer offense. Tbey kept the defense off the field and allowed them to breathe and work on strategies. It woulda been nice to see the outcome had Bama not been spotted 27 points. But don't forget, Bama is very good football team!! Very good!!!! Every aspect of their game is just like always. Basic fundamentally sound football. They beat you up every snap and wear you down. But I was pleased to see that Tennessee never quit!!! Butch Jones has changed the mind set. Those young men believe they can play with anybody. And have. Just come up a little short. If he continues on the course he is on, 3 years from they should be a strong, sou d football team and a formedable foe for anyone.

The announcer mentioned the QB for T was interested in finishing in aerospace engineering, if I have it right, and said he is reported to be the type if fellow that can follow you if you only tell him how to do something once. That will make him a formidable player in the future.

The Atmosphere from over 107,000 fans. I must admit, I am impressed!

One of the ABC correspondents on the field had a meter to read how loud the place was. She read it at about 105 decibels.

That is between very loud to deafening. Here is a comparison,

Quote:
Jet take-off (at 305 meters), use of outboard motor, power lawn mower, motorcycle, farm tractor, jackhammer, garbage truck.   Boeing 707 or DC-8 aircraft at one nautical mile (6080 ft) before landing (106 dB); jet flyover at 1000 feet (103 dB); Bell J-2A helicopter at 100 ft (100 dB).

Carlos Williams investigated for domestic assault on pregnant girlfriend.

It's unclear whether Fischer knew about the latest incident on Friday when he said this:

Fisher also said: "It's funny. That guy, who's a tremendous kid, a tremendous ambassador, I don't even know where that [suspension report] would come from. It kind of caught me off guard like 'Whoa.' Karlos has been wonderful."

Just based on the incident last summer "a tremendous ambassador" is not what comes to mind.

Jimbo Fischer's over-defense of the indefensible is starting to sound silly.

I guess all the bad publicity around the game is starting to get too much. Tommy T says the next UC Bearcat  out of line is getting the gate for the rest of the season.

On a lighter note (to me anyway):

I'm looking forward to the nationwide comedy show that is sure to follow the Selection Committee's first Top 25 tonight.

There is no way to pick a Top 25 at this point in the season without pissing off about 15 football fan bases. None of it matters because many of the teams will face each other in the upcoming weeks and most of the debate will play out on the football field.

Most fans will be pissed because their team isn't ranked as high as they think they should be (like fans usually do).

I happen to think that teams slightly under the radar, almost nobody taking them seriously, but with high profile games still to come (like Georgia) are in a beautiful position.

Ya know. It's the hate that keeps college football fans warm.

My team's drawing dead at this point, but we'll see how the 12 experts look at it.

There they are.   Obviously the SEC west schools are gonna wreak havoc on them since they still have games amongst themselves to play.   The biggest thing that stuck out to me about the show on ESPN tonight was how much emphasis was placed on SOS.   It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few weeks.

I told my coworkers today that if OSU was near 10th they had a shot at the playoffs. I said outside the top 15 they are done. Too many one loss teams ahead of them. They would have to blow out everyone in front of them. That includes hoping Nebraska wins out to give them another quality opponent. It would require utter chaos for them to move up 12 spots. On that note I wish for the college football season to channel their inner joker :-D

OMG! You would think the universe just blew up down here in Alabama because they aren't in the top 4.

Fans are morons. The best win they have is West Virginia on a "neutral field" that isn't all that neutral.

If Joshua Dobbs could run on them like he did what in the Hell do they think Dak Prescott is going to do?

Looks like the committee did a decent job of using information only to this point and not getting in the prediction of future weeks business. Everything will take care of itself.

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
