Hey guys, just recently picked up a set of Scratch EZ-1 Forged Irons 4 - PW. These irons are incredible. They came equipped with KBS Tour stiff shafts and the feel of these sticks is exactly what I've been looking for. My previous set was a set of Taylormade Rocketbladez Tour irons but for some stupid reason I was fitted with X-Stiff shafts and I could never get the feel right because I don't have the club head speed. I traded the Rocketbladez for the Scratch irons straight up and it was the best deal I've made yet. This is going to be a good season. It's my first season with forged irons but I absolutely love the feel when struck pure.

Has anyone else had any experience with Scratch irons? Not just the wedges, I mean an entire set. Just curious about your opinions. I can't wait for the season to start. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Rocketbladez but this was a deal I just couldn't pass up. I love the plain, classy look of the irons as well. Cheers.

I actually didn't know Scratch made iron sets, so I had to look them up. Very attractive irons, I must say.

Keep us updated as you play with them this season, and don't forget to write a review in the Equipment section .

LOL, I was in the process of posting, "hey, gotta have pics when we're talking golf porn!", and then the 'new post' notification popped up and you posted the pics! Thanks. Very nice looking irons.

Yours in earnest, Jason.

Yep, those are my irons. They are a great looking club. They're retailed on their website for $1300!! So I guess I got a good deal. They are excellent clubs and I couldn't be happier with them. I can't wait to get outdoors with them. You can only tell so much at an indoor range and with simulators as well. I need to get to an outdoor range and see the ball in full flight. I know the feel of these irons is exactly what I've been looking for as this is the first time I've gone with a forged iron. I can't believe I've waited this long!!!

    • My flop shots are 6-7° down (AoA). Does that answer it? 😄  The longer answer is… You have to be able to do both shots.
    • I hope you don't mind me raising this one from the dead. I got shortgamechef's video access thing for a few months in 2024. I watched his yip fix videos (the general gist is similar to the first video above, but with a lot more detail) and it made a lot of sense. I was working on it in my backyard off a mat for a while and my yippy thing was mostly gone. Aside from anything else, the flop shot using that technique is so easy and controllable. But I got onto a golf course for the first time of the year and found myself by the green on a downslope with the ball sitting down a little in the rough and I was, not to put too fine a point on it, f***ed. Shallow is all well and good from a good flat lie and I understand it, but you can't make that your be all and end all. I still don't know if it's a good idea to use steep all the time or just when you need to. I have a hard enough time with one technique, let alone too.  Just got a pitching skillest lesson with Erik and unless I misunderstood things some, he wants me a bit steeper. @iacas - where do you fall on the steep vs shallow argument and how do you vary it according to need?
