Strata Tour Advanced

Since I only need so many trout flies, I have had a lot of time to kill this winter and have been scrutinizing golf balls that I think might work for my game.  So far I have decided to give 3 balls a try:  TM Project (a), Bridgestone e5, and Maxfli U/3.  One ball that has intrigued me is the Callaway Strata Tour Advanced ball.  I played the Gamer V2 when it was available but this ended with the sale of Top-Flite by Callaway to Dicks.  Dicks kept the "dimple in dimple" concept, but beside from that, the Strata Tour Advanced looks like the identical ball to the V2, which was great around the green for a surlyn ball.  Does anyone have any experience with the Strata Tour Advanced?

@NJpatbee ,

I have not tried the ball. You should really try it out for yourself versus a ball you are familiar with to compare.  I you like it, you can write a review in the Equipment section of the forum.  That always helps other forum members.  This ball has not been reviewed.

If you're bored, and want to keep tying flies just to keep busy, you could always send some my way. Maybe gold-bead pheasant tails..... A dozen each, sIzes 8-14, to start? ;-)

      New Maxfli Forged Irons - $800!

      I appreciate that you have taken the time to come back and update. Based on what was previously discussed I feel like the points were; forged, feel good, price, and possibly players distance. If you like the "looks" of those Maxfli irons and if price is a major point, then going straight to the source, Maltby, might make sense. Specifically, the TS3 iron. I was looking into this myself and found some reviews: Fit2YouGolf, Lets Play Thru, and ELITE FIT GOLF. As per your update I found the Maxfli to be ~$1300 fitted the way I wanted. Where the TS3 with the same fitting and assembled by Golfworks was less than $750. I suppose the downside is to actually hit the iron you will need to get lucky and find someone in your golf circle who will let you hit theirs or order a 6 or 7 iron to test. However, the way I look at that is being equivalent to some fittings. If you like the results and buy, then the fitting is free, otherwise the price of the fitting is a sunk cost. If name brand is important, then I submit for your consideration - THE BEST OVERALL IRON of 2024...... FACT !! 😉 A bit tongue in cheek that but also, I feel some good points were discussed.

      Day 467 - 2026-01-10 Practiced at Pinehurst every day I was there, and before Junior Elite this morning I got fifteen minutes of backswing checks in the mirror in.
