I like being able to try out the item being purchased first but sometimes the deals on ebay can just be too low to turn down.

I've bought my Taylormade r580 xd from Golf Galaxy for $50
I got my Hogans for $75 from my friend who is basically a drug dealer but with golf clubs
and my Taylormade rac TP sandwedge for $40 on ebay when new it is over $110

So basically I just shop wherever the best deal possible is.

anyone that doesn't at least browse Ebay for the club they are looking for is crazy. Like I said before being left handed it is the best place for us IMO. I was just browsing and picked up a Titleist 904f for $39, NEVER USED. I like the club and wanted a 5 wood just to have. I found a 904F five wood NEVER USED and was the only bid..... BOUGHT IT FOR $5 I LOVE EBAY... Like I said before Retails have to put more lefty stuff in for me to start buying there again. If I don't like the club, I throw it back on ebay and sell it for 90-100% of what I bought it for..
I have had great expierences with Global golf. The items are usually in better shape then advertised and shipping is usaully 2-4 days.

I buy and sell on ebay all the time. Best invention since the golf channel. I have never been ripped off with fake clubs. Very safe in my mind as long as you check out the feedback from the seller. I just purchased Taylormade xd Burners from ebay and i love the deal i got.

Most of my clubs are from e-bay. The problem is that I am the "kid in a candy store" when I have all this high end items in front of me going for lower prices then the OEM's at a retail golf store. I use the retail stores only to try out new heads but it doesn't do me any good because they don't have the shafts I want to try and they play games with the launch monitor to make more sales.

I got my driver, irons and putter from Ebay. I was able to go to a demo day at a local driving range and try out the new stuff. Once I made my decision, I went the the stores in my area, looked it up at the online retailers, and then Ebay. Ebay was about half the cost. As mentioned before, you've got to be careful in selecting the seller. Look into their rating and the reviews from previous buyers. I've been very pleased with my experience at Ebay.

I was a skeptic until recently.....

I made the move the other day and won on a set of brand new chrome Titleist 735's.

Only cost me $400. They are on their way to closout prices, but the retail place near here is still trying to sell the stainless steel version(cheaper of the two) for $599 still. I'm sorry, but $200 AND getting a better quality club is a huge difference.

It's opened my eyes a lot as far as eBay is concerned. Just in the last couple days I've seen more of them go for 420-550. Saw a brand new set of Nike blades go for $420 the other day. If you can find a retail business matching those prices, please, let me know.

The way I see it, golf clubs are a lot like computers. As soon as you buy it, the next "best" club is on the way to stores. Just like a car, as soon as it leaves the showroom, the resale value drops. I don't mind having last years club, because it's better than the one I am replacing. Why not let someone who can't wait to have that new driver take the depreciation on their current one? I bought my 905R for under $150 with shipping when they were still listing at $299 in the stores. It was in excellent shape. Besides, once I hit a few balls with it, it's used anyway.

Lost Ball at times will buy things online such as Ebay but clubs are bought at a Retail Store by someone that Lost Ball knows
Golf is so popular simply because it is the best game in the world at which to be bad.

- A.A. Milne

Lost Ball, please keep going third person. I love it.

I use eBay when I'm looking for something old.
I have found some great stuff but most of it needs to go to a shop.

I trust TGW.com, the Ping Community, Edwin Watts, Golfsmith online.
Those clubs are usually close enough for my raggedy game.

Retail, I'm usually impulse buying my 128th putter or another SW in a pro shop.
Most of those go to the barrel in the basement.

I know I can't buy a game.
That doesn't stop those "Wow. Look at that one!" impulses every time.
My world of golf is a bit irrational.

Best, Mike Elzey

I bought a taylormade r-7 3-wood on ebay, $70 was the winning bid. The seller had positive feedback. The club came and had a burner sticker on the shaft and the finish in the weight ports looked a little rough compared to my r-7 driver. Brought it to a local shop and golfsmith and both confirmed it was fake(best fake they ever saw!), it came from Beijing,China. Bought the real thing from golfsmith on sale for $140, I now shop last years model and get great deals. Just got Cleveland cg-4's for $299 from local shop. Look closely at ebay clubs, beware of clubs from CHINA!

All of the above for me.

If I know what I am looking for I will check to see where I can get the best price. I picked up my R7 Steel 3-Wood on ebay for $60 shipped and it looks like it had never been used (no it's not a fake, verified with Taylor Made with the serial number). I have also picked up a few putters on ebay with both good and bad results. The worst being a Ping Scotsdale Anser I bought was described as being 35" and it was only 33.5" when I received it. The rest of my gear I bought from online or local retailers as either demo clubs or closeouts. I don't need the latest and greatest.

I buy from all of the above, eBay is excellent for picking up bargains but sometimes you obviously have to be careful about exactly what you are buying and who you are buying from. I tend to like going to retail stores, testing equipment and just browsing around, but I find it more economical to purchase online from these stores - frequently they will have offers that are only limited to thos people who buy from the online store.

All in all, the three options have their advantages and just provide yet another way to enjoy this wonderful game!

I bought my tour edge hybrid and my scotty cameron off e-bay and love both clubs. I think you just need to gauge whether the deal is to good to be had and look at the seller's reputation. Also look to some of the golf stores on e-bay.

Mostly online stores here, especially for tees, balls, gloves, shoes, and apparel. When buying clubs, I have to hit them, so I usually hit GG for that, then check online prices. Usually ends up 50/50 whether i buy it at GG.

I buy stuff off Ebay all the time. Between my dad and I we've gotten 5 drivers, two 5-woods, 2 sets of irons, my whole set of wedges and 2 putters. Also really cheap used balls, head covers and a bunch of new shafts.

The only knock off I got is a R7 425 head from China. Which I figured was a fake. It has a serial number and looks perfect. I hit the damn thing 260-270 yards, so I really can't complain about it...

I don't typically buy my clubs on eBay, but I will buy golf balls. There are some pretty good sellers of used golf balls on eBay; that way I can pick up some ProV's on the cheap.
