Wow! Phil played LIGHTS OUT today, that was awesome! He is finally putting some really good rounds together, and that 63 today was great. He was driving the ball well. After missing the Masters cut, he comes back first tourney and plays well. That is Phil, he can turn it around at any time. GO PHIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a stretch from hole 3 to 8: birdie birdie birdie birdie eagle birdie. -7 for just those 6 holes- I'd say he was in the zone.

Remember a ball commercial a few years ago where there is some statement about dimples and at the end JB Holmes hits a ball and makes the statement "Well, there's a dimple on it now". That dude just hammers the ball. I'm no expert, but his swing looks more conventional than Bubba's, and certainly the ball flight is more conventional.

Why do they call golf "golf"?  Because all the other four letter words were taken.

Congrats to Holmes. He was one of my favorite players to watch back when he was good, so hopefully this gets him back to where he was.

Yes I agree, no top players are winning, except for Bubba in the Masters. I can't believe Phil fell apart today and didn't play well. That four putt from like 6 ft. was a killer.

Never the less, JB Holmes had a great win, that guy can just flat out smashes his drives. All day he was 50 yards past Flores.

When Golf Channel kicked it over to CBS, they had commentary about how the final group was nervous. They showed Holmes taking a minute on his approach on #1, implying that he didn't have his stuff today. They strongly suggested the winner would be a proven guy like Phil or Justin Rose who would keep nerves together. Looks like that final pairing did just fine! Well done.

Holmes is just very deliberate. Didn't get put on the clock, but warned.  Not jumping around like he has icy hot in his shorts like Bradley, but I think he takes longer. They were teeing off on 17 when Phil was already on the green on 18.

Would be cool to see Holmes and Bubba playing together.

If Phil had made his putts today like he did yesterday, he could have been   20 under. Sad to watch after the great round he had yesterday. .

Am I the only one that thinks the camera work was terrible on golf channel today?

And I think someone was trying to see how many times they could cover the cup with the golf channel logo when someone was putting. Out of the way when they put it in the top corner of the screen. I don't know why they ever put it at the bottom.

Ahh...here is the commercial that I was talking about earlier. Actually thought the whole thing was pretty well done, and JB's delivery of his line was great:

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
