It's really not all that scary after you've done it for a while. It certainly gets some adrenaline pumping over certain shots (the first tee shot, 6 footers, etc.), but I would call it excitement rather than fear. That's just how I feel though, since I'm the kind of person who likes to compete with others.

That said, my first tournament ever I was absolutely terrified. I nearly soiled myself when I watched my two playing partners hit their tee shots (they were both scratch compared to me being a 28 handicap then) compared to mine.

yeah, i can imagine...the thing is, i can hit shots that a scratch can hit, and i can hit it pretty far.  but im just as likely on the first tee to put a ball 2 fairways over...i dont think i'd dribble one short of the ladies tees but i might push-slice it off the planet....
