Playing alone is like anything else. It's all good in balance. Playing alone has benefits as mentioned above about practicing and focusing. The other thing that's great about playing alone is you will sometimes get paired up with strangers. Nothing like that to get yourself used to playing in front of people you don't know. I have a buddy who won't go unless he's "sheltered" in a group of people he knows. It keeps him from playing a lot, I just don't understand it. I guess he's shy about his swing or something but for me I don't mind being paired up.

All that being said there is nothing better than getting the competetive fires burning while playing with closely matched playing partners.

Swing = Stacked and On Plane when possible.

I like playing alone. Every other week I don't have to be to work untill 11:00, so I'll tee off at first light (about 5:45 right now) and be off the course by 8.

Beware of old dudes with old clubs and new grips.

Its really fun, you get really focused on playing well and just enjoy the game by yourself. You move fast and you tend to do better. Sure you dont have anyone to socialize with, but that is the best time to go for a good score because thats all your focused on.

i agree fully with dent i guess because we are the two of the younger people here we play alone alot more and i also dont get "lessons" for my dad that drives me crazy

I like it if I can get on an open course. Many times I'll get paired up with others. One guy I got paired up with helped me and didn't know it. His swing was so smooth and he hit so well, that it helped me to watch him and slow my swing down and hit better. Also, I tend to score better because my focus is much better when I play alone.

I enjoy it, have played a lot of rds by myself. Lately I have been playing 4-6 times a week, sometimes just a quick 9 but more & more lately I have been squeezing in 18. I don't need to "compete" against anyone except the course, for me the thrill of making a great shot or going for that birdie..wish I could stop choking & actually hit more of those...is all I need.

I find I play better when paired with strangers. I don't know why. I think I thrive on it for some odd reason.
