Congratulations!

My baby boy was born on saturday so I haven't been able to practice till today.

I tried getting my hips forward on the back swing and keeping my hands forward. I hit about 15 balls at about half speed. I was making good contact but found that I hit some awful slices with my 8 iron. I found that hitting the ball at full speed was a bit better. I pulled my best struck balls. My divots are going left so I have to work on staying square.

Yes congrats on the baby!

Yes that makes sense. Just got to keep doing it, the more you can get the hips to look like the pic below the easier "pushing" the path out to the right will be.

If the hips slide back you'll swing left, divots left. Don't put too much important in where the divot is pointed, it it's a little left that's fine, club swings on an arc.

My next question would be about getting my hands more forward. Obviously when I do this the club face is open. I rotate the club face back to square. I have a feeling that this is closing it more than it should be. Could you post a pic of how the club head should look at address in regards to the ball?

If you're trying to hit a draw, the face should be aimed a little right of the target. So having a little lean at address helps with this.

If I can't find any pics right now, I'll post if I do.

While you can certainly do that a bit to play better golf right now, don't lose sight of the fact that your hip piece matters most right now.

Oh yeah of course. Finding it tough to get a good feeling for not swaying right now.  I feel like I'm straightening my right leg to much and leaning more on my left side than I should. Gonna need to be find a better balance between my old swing and the fix.

I'm gonna get out of the house today and hit balls for a bit. Hopefully it clicks.

I'm going to film this drill soon, but just get an old driver shaft or alignment stick and stick it in the ground close to you right hip. Then on the backswing move the right hip away from the stick.

Thats exactly what I'm trying.I like to use an alignment stick or my golf bag.  I felt like I wasn't swaying as much yesterday. I'm gonna need to video my swing today and see if i can replicate the swing without thinking about it.

I didn't want to hijack the brices thread about his swing. I read over the thread about being a stupid monkey. Just so that I understand correctly. What you were getting at by saying "thats not being a stupid monkey" is I need to focus on the highest priority problem?

Yes. Stop fishing for "new things" to work on.

I felt amazing today at the course by the house. I hit my 60 degree wedge, 9 iron, and 7 iron. I really focused on keeping my weight forward to keep me from swaying. I would take a slow practice swing really focusing on my right knee not moving. Then hit my shot. I hope the video I shoot tomorrow shows what I'm feeling. Go away sway.

    • Decibels is sound 'pressure' not wave frequency. From that perspective a SGI Iron will have very different pressure wave than a blade even with the same speed and other variables considered equal. Additionally, since your phone will not be in direct path the turbulence difference (which generates the sound 'pressure) will have much lesser variance. In other words you will have convergence at one particular speed. Maybe it's this 90MPH speed with your 6i. But I doubt you will have proportional deviation above or below the speed to give you anything will reliability.  And other speeds? 80, 90?
    • You could have saved us all some time by realizing I tend to know what I'm talking about when it comes to science and tech. 😛  What? The only way they would imply that it would be "possible" is if you were able to spend six figures (minimum) AND that doesn't include the swing robot that could reach peak speed at the same exact location every time. No, they didn't say it was possible for someone like you to do anything remotely good. Session to session. The PRGR doesn't work the same way - it samples the speed, from behind (inline with the direction of travel) with radar, and takes the highest number it registers. The distance from the PRGR isn't super relevant. You're not reading. Or understanding. No to both. The former is because of the microphones, and the latter is because a clubhead swing more closed versus more open will have a different air flow and thus a different pitch and volume. Clubheads are not symmetrical. You're missing the point. How reflective some of that stuff is could matter. The sounds it generates to background noise could matter. 85 dBs is generally considered ear-injuring volume. You don't "need to find an app" because this will not work at all.
