So here's the scoop, I'm flying out to Spain on January 19th to study for a semester and won't be back till June 1st, they have some fantastic courses in the area and they are really cheap for students, I'm talking 5 euros for nine holes through my school, probably because of the golf management program, anyways.  I'm trying to decide what to do, I've been playing stellar golf lately and don't want to take a break for 4 months and have to find this swing again, however I don't have a travel bag and its $119.00 for the extra bag on the flight, and I'm almost certain that isn't both ways. What would you guys do???

I'd try to find the money somehow to get my clubs over there. Sounds like school loan time or a rich relative. You don't want to be pining for several months for lack of a few bucks.

If your bag has a cover, stick a long broom stick (or a metal rod) that is slightly longer than your longest club and wrapped the club heads with a towel. Then close the bag cover. I did that many times without any problems. Knock on wood. No pun intended.

Either find a way to get the clubs over to Spain, or rustle up enough to buy clubs when you get there.

Try an alternative way of shipping, like Fedex or UPS or some cheap equivalent. Doesn't matter how long it takes to get there or get back, right?

I would recommend FedEx or UPS. Both companies have boxes designed to handle golf bags. Also, you could save the box and re-use it for the return trip.

Since you're going for several months, you want to focus on getting your clothing and personal items over as carry-on and checked baggage. You don't want to be lugging a golf bag around the world's airports.

And, good luck with your trip. Send us a post or two about golfing the Iberian peninsula.

Focus, connect and follow through!
