Project X PVx red shaft?

Hello everyone. New to the Trap and need to ask a question about the shaft above. A friend of mine has this shaft full length uncut and will sell it for next to nothing. I have a 910 D3 and D2 head that I switch a MFT Kal'i 65 between depending on conditions and how I feel that day. Looking for another shaft that is comparable to the Kal'i. I know this is an OEM shaft, but I am wondering if it will hold up to my swing and if anyone has any info on how this shaft performs. Any info is appreciated.

Swing speed 108 Quick / harsh transition.

Are the shafts of comparable stiffness and weight? 108 is pretty close to the barrier between stiff and x-stiff. Maybe someone will have some insight as to whether the PX shaft plays whippier or stiffer than it's rated.

The red Project X shafts were made for the X Hot drivers, designed to be mid-launch and low spin. Probably similar weight, might be a little lighter than the Diamana. Tough to find info on the Project X PXv red.

I put the rip 60 in my 910. The lower torque really was eye opening as it was the first shaft I experience a lower torque in, at the same flex I had been using. At 108, you most certainly are not average, and shafts that are on stocker clubs I would think you find whippy and hard to control. If the torque numbers on those shafts you are considering are up around 4, I dont think you would find them different from any others you discarded. The problem I would have in telling anybody a shaft would suit, is really the same. That being how you like to close back to square will most assuredly be effected by the torque and that can be a very nuanced situation. It is true though that you might not have THE perfect shaft in changing something like torque, but you will know if you are going the right direction after you play it enough to settle into your natural rythms and see its shot production.

I am in the area of borderline stiff to xstiff swing swing speed. I have a project X 7C3 in a D3 and it is a great shaft. It really brought my ball flight down and has awesome feel. I recommend trying one out.

Thanks for the input. Both shafts are a stiff one 60 the other 65. I have played the Ahina 72 and the 7C3. Both of these shafts I struggled with in dispersion, flight, and lost distance. Bought the Kal'i on a whim and dispersion and distance is back. It is mid lauch, mid spin, 45" and a 4.2 torque. Just thinking that the mid / mid is helping by getting the ball up, and keeping it up longer. Even with the high torque the Kal'i still feels very stable to me. Just seeing if anyone has had experience with the Project X pvx red as I would like to have two shafts that I could change between the D2 and D2. Any further information will be greatly appreciated.

As for your current shaft, possibly you mean the Mitsubishi Diamana Kai'li with MDI technology?

I'm having trouble finding any Kai'li shafts with your above specs; as per Mitsu site, most Kai'li are in this range: S or X flex, 64 grams, with 3.4 torque (low torque), Firm tip stiffness,  and a mid-high kickpoint (lower launch).

The PXv Red you mention was made specifically for the X Hot drivers, so you probably won't find data in the Project X online site. The Callaway 2013 Product Booklet (spiral-bound) gives the following:

Thus, the PX v Red would fit fairly closely to the specs of the shaft you described in your second post.

I am concerned about how light the PXv would be... seemingly not the shaft for you at 108 MPH clubhead speed.

And, how did your friend get an uncut PXv Red shaft? These aren't available through components catalogs.

Understand what mid torque is. Roughly a scale of 2-6, but 8 gets claimed on the crazy high side... Thats nuts. A 2 degree torque is capable of being 4 degrees off, get it? -2 or +2. Mid torque, at 4 is thus +/-8 degrees. Now if its a rifle at 100 yards, thats about an inch per degree. So look down from the tee 300 yards and move your sight 8x3 inches to the right or left and see if you are gonna hit the friggin cart girl. AND RTR!

The Kal'i shaft I have is a made for Titleist shaft. On the site it states that it is mid / mid with a 4.2 torque. I am just going by the info on Titleist site. As for the Project X red my buddy got this shaft off of Diamond Tour golf at 46". It states it is a mid / mid shaft at 3.7 torque. I did pick the shaft up and will be taking it to my club fitter to have it prepped. I plan to let him trip it how he thinks is best where the 910 will play at 45". I will update all of you when I get some time with the shaft. In the mean time thanks for all of the information and hit them long and straight.
