I still have my first set of decent clubs, the Wilson Staff Tour Blades in my signature. Back in the day, Staff irons were very poplular among pros, and you saw a ton of those big red and white bags on TV. I have been unhappy to see this once stout powerhouse struggle, but appreciate their efforts of late, and hope they are on the right track.

I like the Duo. It is not meant to be a ProV; it is more like the DT Solo. Dave posted it is a marshmellow-I think that was their intent. Both are very nice with the vintage equipment I enjoy playing. I have used the Duo, the Solo, and the Callaway Supersoft. Overall, I think I like the Solo a little better, but the Duo is close. I have not tried the FG Tour ball, but have read reviews by many who have that it is as good a ball as there is.

I started playing golf 5 years ago.  I knew nothing about golf brands before then.  My impression of Wilson as golf brand is not very good.   Before this article/thread, I thought Wilson was a golf brand wannabee, not a former powerhouse of golf equipment.

I started playing two years ago and am pretty much with you.

I knew nothing about golf brands, and before this thread (haven't read the article yet), I thought Wilson was a second tier golf product when compared to TM, Callaway, Titleist, and Ping.

The quality stuff is reserved for the Wilson Staff brand.  The department store stuff is sold under "Ultra", "Prostaff", or plain "Wilson" monikers.  Which isn't to say you can't score well with department store clubs but there is no resale value in them which hurts Wilson Staff by association.  I've found Wilson non-Staff gloves, in particular, to be of noticeably poor quality which doesn't exactly leave me racing out to buy "Staff" gloves when I can just grab a Callaway product and know what I'm getting.

I had a Wilson Prostaff pitching wedge and really liked it. One day I left it behind a green at a local muni. Two holes later, it dawned one me. By the time I raced back, it was gone. Whoever took it, didn't turn it in.
