I'm a horrible at estimating things like height, square footage, etc., but I'd say probably 30 feet.

Even my low face hit drives would clear 30 feet. If I could clear them, I think I would be able to get into the fairway area just on the green side edge of the right bunker for about a 200 yard approach by cutting 50 yards off the dogleg? Even 60 feet would probably clear with my current low shot setup. This kind of falls in line with the handicap rating of 11?

Well @colin007 said earlier that you can't clear the trees based on how far out they are and how tall they are so there's a good chance I'm way off the mark when I say they're 30 feet tall.  Haha

Maybe 30 yards. Yeah, that would be dicey. If playing for cash, I would play conservative. If playing for fun, I might just go for trying to keep left of those trees and right of the other side of the fairway. We have a par 4 hole that is narrower than this one, because on the right you end up in a hiking trail and the left you end up in the barranca with the fairway sloping sideways in both directions. I still go for it when having fun.

Dude, really, mooching off jpgs that I find?

Oh man, you got me! I couldn't remember where I had gotten that pic from... In all honesty, you're not going to be able to hit over the trees, they're probably 80 feet high. You can get lucky and once in a while go through the trees, but that's not a smart play. The third shot isn't too hard with a wedge. Green slopes back to front, however there's almost zero room to miss on the right. You go right of the path and you're done.

Good Job RFK! You picked a hole that I birdied last time I was out there!

Unlike #1 at Capitol Hills that is a very short but tough Par-5 that I enjoy, #12 is much longer at 554 yards from the back tees and this hole just does not fit my eye or my ball flight. I can cut the ball but I just don't do it unless I have no other option.

On this hole from the back tees I don't worry about the bunkers, I don't think I could get there, at least I haven't hit them yet, maybe if it was down wind, and then maybe, lol?

So I aim pretty much down the right hand tree line and try to draw it back towards the middle of the fairway. The trees aren't too tall and my last time out there I hit a solid drive that started over the left edge of the tree line on the right but didn't draw quite as much as I planned. It ended up in good position at the corner of the dogleg in the fairway just past that last tree nearest the fairway on the right.

I can't remember the exact yardage and I had a look at the far left side of the green and decided to get home I would have to hit my 4-Wood with a bit of cut. I chickened out and took the next best option. I hit 3-Hybrid pretty much straight at the left side of the green knowing I would come up short but since the pin was on the right I would have a great angle.

I must have been a little pumped because the 3-Hybrid only came up about 10 yards short of the green and I had a basic chip I got up and down for bird!

#12 is a great hole at Capitol, It's just not one of my favorites as far as fitting my eye so I tend to play it a little more conservative with the expectation of still having a good chance to make birdie. You flip that hole around and make it a dogleg left and I'm loading up and going for it every time, lol!

Nice!

Even though it's a dog right and farther, this hole, because it's relatively flat I guess, doesn't appear to be as difficult to me.

Nice to see Albany golfers coming out of the woodworks!

    • Day 22: Hit balls with 7-iron using mevo+ to track dispersion. Was out for a long time after work; 86 balls but the first 50+ were 50% swings focusing on top of backswing feel and then just hitting the ball as a psychic reward. Finished with 20 balls close to full speed. Pretty happy with dispersion and also no horrendous misses. I’m chunking my priority piece out into two separate feels, first and more important is the position/balance at top of backswing which is what I was working on. Once I have that engrained I’ll move to transition part.
    • FWIW I never really had issues with the previous generation of Snells. But… I'm not sure I played them a ton, either.
    • I know Dean Snell designed the original Pro V along with a couple of other brands tour balls.  How exactly does the Snell ball have problems.  Did he change something in the design or is a manufacturing error since he cannot afford the unlimited R&D budgets of the big manufacturers to iron out flaws
    • I've played the Tour in both white and yellow.  They play well and seem to hold up pretty good even when running into trees or cart paths.  Right now, I've been trying them against the Bridgestone Tour B RX ball and I really like both.  The Snell 3.0 looks to be a great update to the issues Snell was running into with the previous generation.
