I've been here for a little bit and Just started playing golf. I though I would introduce myself so you guys/girls will know me around the forum. I live in NC and started around 3 months ago. My first time out I shot a 94. I love golf and will discuss with you guys about almost everything I find interesting. I am 14 years old also.

Hello sandtrap members. I've been playing golf for a while now and know for sure that if I worked hard enough I could be in the plus area. I'm from Los Angeles and I play golf at least twice a week. Last month I posted 15 rounds so my index is pretty accurate. But don't let it fool you, I've shot two rounds over 90 this year. Weird, huh? Anyways, it's great to be here.

Well, my dad has a Red Dot book, so we play all over the L.A. area including Ventura, San Bernardino, Orange, and Riverside. Even sometimes near Palm Springs. So we travel somewhere once a week and then I play a twilight or supertwilight at Brookside (next to the rosebowl) in Pasadena (my home course).

I don't think so. I would only play in a tournament like that, knowing that the entry fee is $100, if I was confident I could shoot like 3 under on #1 and 5 under on #2, or if I had an index like yours. My best on course #1 and #2 is a 71 and 68, respectively, with an average of like 76 and 72. So I don't think I'm ready to compete with guys that are playing at that level. Could I be ready by Nov. 5, though? Maybe. I'd have to practice the weakest part of my game (shots inside of 80 yds) like every day until then, my bunker shots (which I recently saw Travino explain to Natalie Gulbis that the best bunker players he's seen play the ball in the back of thier stance), and get rid of a ridiculous hook I have with my mid-irons.

Well, you should keep that link on you. The Pepsi Tour has their Twilight Tour with a tournament at Brookside every week. I think Wednesday afternoons. Cost is around $100.

That's funny, I played a Pepsi tour tournament like six years ago and it was on a Wednesday at Brookside, and the guy said every Wednesday. Talk about keepin' it goin! I even heard there's this one guy who's made like 50k on that tour. Is that possible?

    • Hi @RetiredOldMan!  I am glad to see you are still playing and having good scores.  I hope that when I am 79, I am not only able to play, but still able to produce as good scores as you have been doing.   I look forward to hearing more of your success and your opinion of the senior flex shafts.
    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.
