Mike is going to shoot me for this and I will probably get a PM from him, but I picked up a dozen Bridgestone e6 balls (the new ones) Before you say, oh he's an 11 handicap, I was ball fit for these... I don't hate the new Pro V1 or V1x... just can't afford $50/dozen... I haven't been out yet... (obviously it's like 2 degrees out (Fahrenheit)... did anyone play last year's model, or have tried the new model? What am I in for being a Titleist player before? Thanks...

They dont go as far for me or work as much at the e5 I play now. Lets use the word "consistency" off the tee. Around the green they are hot so loft won't hurt. I would imagine you find them going longer on short stuff or popping off long where the polyurethane covers you were used to might mute that a bit. I think they call it ionymer?

I've heard the reps comment the E-series if for the following type players.

And he's referring to mid to high handicappers.

If your ball flight is high play the E-5

If your ball flight is low play the E-7

If you hit it left or right, hit the E-6

He describes the E-6 as a 47 compression rocket with low spin.

I went to the Midwest Golf Expo today and did the Bridgestone Ball Fitting.

I know these guys pretty well and usually shoot the breeze with them about their products.

I hit the E-6 to obtain data with both last generation and their new ball to compare.

They didn't have a printer on site and are going to Email me the report.

A few changes I recall was a change to the dimple pattern and now injecting the outer core into the mold.

Next week I'll send them an email and obtain specs and more tech info for when I write my review for mvmac on the E-6 ball.

The biggest difference you should notice, will be "the feel"

Also, playing the E-6, more roll out on shots that hit greens.

Ball flight longer on cold days, if you like to play golf in cold climates.

And the cost is less.

The E-6 is #2 in ball sales, and catching up with Pro-V's.

I asked our Pro the other day, how are the E-6 sales?

He indicated they sell out and it's hard to obtain re-orders on occasion.

As I mentioned before, the ball is popular to mid and high handicap players.

It is also popular with Senior and Women golfers.

Of all the brands which I stumble across, I find tons of these at our course which I give to my wife to play.

She can have thirty or so in her golf bag at all times.

But when I get my monthly bill there is always charges for a sleeve or dozen of new.

Something about the girls just having to tee up a bright shiny new ball when they play together.

One of my friends plays the E-6 and I asked him to start saving the boxes for me.

Then I'll take and put the good ones which I find into them and put them in with her other new balls.

Figure I'll save enough over the course of a season to buy myself a brew-ski once in a while at the club on Saturday's.

I played 8 holes with an e6 yesterday, and my scoring was better than normal.  It was surprising because I'm used to urethane balls.  From the 9th hole onward, I played NXT Tour and Chrome Soft for comparison, and my scoring was worse.  Perhaps there were other factors other than the ball, but it made me a believer of the e6.  Now I want to try the e5 and e7.  I wished I signed up for the ball test now!  At half the cost of Pro V1's, I think e5/e6/e7 may be my new ball...

I have played the e6 and would equate it to the Titleist NXT Tour, both good balls.  However I find the Gamer, Gamer Soft, and Maxfli U/3 all superior balls, usually avavilable at a lower cost than the e6.

The three balls you mentioned are all Dicks Sporting Goods brands... good balls, but I like the Bridgestone line better, I tried the Callaway Chrome Soft when I was in Syracuse last week... Better than the Pro V1x any day of the week, but I ain't good enough for that...

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
