I've been Playing Golf for: 7 Years

My current handicap index or average score is: 11.7

My typical ball flight is: Push Fade, Slice

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Fat shots, slices

Thanks for taking a look. I do on occasion hit strait shots some of them are draws. My missed shots are are pushes/push fades/slices.

Thanks for posting @aproctor .

Practice swings are harder to analyze because we (including me) make changes when there is a ball there.  That being said, usually fat and thin shots are caused by not getting consistent weight forward at impact.  Check out this video from this thread.

Post a picture with a ball as soon as you can.  Your camera angles were perfect!

As Scott said, practice swings aren't terribly helpful. A lot of people make some surprisingly different swings at a golf ball than they do at a mat or their carpet.

That said, if your swing is like this with a ball, you'll want to work on what I call "getting your arms down faster." They lag well behind where they should:

If you erase the arms that's not a bad position to be in after impact, but the arms are not yet even to impact. Pull the arms down faster.

Thanks for the replies! I have never thought that my swing could be different with/without a ball. That's interesting.

@boogielicious I will get videos with me hitting a ball right after work today and load them up. I'm the camera angles were spot on!

@iacas if this is how i really swing with a ball in front of me do you know of any drills that can help with the feeling of pull my arms down faster?

@aproctor , I struggle with this as well.

I think I overdid the "sliding the hips" forward bit a few years back.

Pump drill works for me. Feels like you are starting your downswing with your arms.

@14ledo81 I wonder if this could be the reasoning behind my issue as well. I've never really had the swing thought of "sliding my hips". My swing thought close to that would be comparable to "get your weight to your front heel". I used to have issues with an over the top move, so now my main focus has been on getting lower body to start the down swing. Seems like I have taken it to far as well.

@billchao I will have to give this a try. The only one I've ever seen is David Leadbetter on a dvd with Sir Nick Faldo, do you know if this is the correct one?

@aproctor , this is an older video of @mvmac doing the drill I'm talking about.

I didn't get a chance to post video yesterday, but I below is a video of me hitting a ball or the ground not off a mat. I can't really tell one is there but it is I promise :-D . I can't tell a difference in the swing, but that's also my untrained eye. Another note, I have yet to do any drills or try to make corrections. I wanted the video of hitting a real ball to be as best a representation of my current game as possible.
