Wedge questions

I currently play Tour Edge Exotics Tour Proto wedges, 52°, 56°, 60°... how I hit them is not the problem (I hit them very well, with the 52°, 56° I don't hit the 60° full)... I've been hitting some balls lately and this is the thing... My gap between the PW and 52° is screwy... I hit my PW on average 125, my gap wedge averages 108 or so... simply put, should I switch out the 52° for a 50°?

What's the loft on your pitching wedge?

As Mike asked, the first real question is what the loft of your PW is. But beyond that, what do you want your gaps to be? My full-shot wedge gaps (PW, GW, SW) are about 15 yards. Are you so precise with your wedges that a 17 yard gap is that big of a deal to you? If so, another less dramatic (expensive) option might be to bend your GW to 51*. That'll lessen the change in gap between your 52* and 56* too.

That's exactly my yardages ... seems like a fairly decent gap.     I just choke down a bit on the PW if I need to take a few yards off...

What's the loft on your pitching wedge?

My Exotics CU PW has a loft of 45°, I thought with a 7° gap between my PW and 52° the distance gap would be bigger, also all my wedges are the same length... I was just thinking a 50° would tighten things up a smidge. I am really good at partial shots with a PW though, I can dial it down to 90 yards if I need to, I've really been working on partial shots with all my clubs.

A 50 degree might be the way to go if you feel like that gap is too large.

17 yards isn't a big deal per say, because my ability in partial shots with the PW... If I was going to bend the 52° I would bend it to 50° I think (my bounce would drop to 8°)... I was thinking of weakening the PW to 46° but I'd have to weaken 6-PW 1° if I did that... Will I be ok with the 52° or should I swap it out for a 50°?

Mike, this is related, would it be dumb of me (making the rocks on the quarry holes at Merion look smarter than me), to weaken the lofts of my irons by 1° as follow 4 and 5 would be std, 23 and 26 6 to 30 7 to 34 8 to 38 9 to 42 PW to 46 Or would 45/50/56/60 be ok?

Well you would obviously hit them a little higher and a little shorter. It does seem a bit much in order to fit your wedge gaps. I'd get the 50 and either stick with the 56 or bend that to 55. I also don't know how easy or hard it would be to bend your irons, some fitters don't like bending cast irons.

If I decide to bend my irons I'll send them to Tour Edge so I don't void my warranty...

Getting a 50° would be best. The 35.25" shaft length is what you normally see on a SW.  The 50° - 56° loft gap shouldn't be that large in terms of yardage, as the shafts are both the same length. Given you don't hit full shots with the 60°, it should stand on its own.

That way, you can buy one club rather than bending several.
