The Zurich Classic will be played at the TPC Louisiana in Avondale, La. Often ranking as one of the easiest courses on the PGA Tour, TPC Louisiana is a par-72 course that measures at 7,425 yards.

Fresh off his first win in five years, Jim Furyk will be off this week, though there are still a few big names in this week’s field. Jason Day (No. 5), Dustin Johnson (No. 6) and Justin Rose (No. 9) are the top-10 ranked golfers in the Official World Golf Rankings who who will be teeing off, as well as defending FedEx Cup champ Billy Horschel.

Last year, Seung-Yul Noh claimed his first PGA Tour victory by going wire-to-wire to top Robert Streb and Andrew Svoboda by two strokes.

Rose enters with momentum after tying for second at the Masters, and he has finished 15th or better in his last three starts at TPC Louisiana. A potent combination, to be sure.

In the absence of a favorite, stick with the chalk. It’s the kind of week to play for the push and hope to get lucky.

He's finished no worse than sixth in his past three starts, including his win at the Cadillac Championship and a career-best T6 at the Masters.

Finished T8 at Zurich in 2013 and has two top-20 finishes in his last two starts. Look for the LSU product to pick up his first TOUR win in his home state.

Rickie is one of the best "feel" putters on TOUR and he leads the TOUR in scrambling from the fringe at 100 percent. That's right, Rickie is 22-22 from the fringe.

Of Rose's 24 career rounds at TPC Louisiana, 18 have been under par, including 11 in the 60s.

After a poor start to the season, things clicked for Rose at Augusta National. He's now headed to TPC Louisiana, where he has been great, finishing top 15 his last three visits.

He hasn't played in New Orleans since 2009 but was hovering in contention at the Masters. Day's game also suits the lengthy TPC Louisiana well as he is tied for first in par-4 scoring.

Going with a tried and true handicapping strategy; a gut feeling. Some decent course history (T6in '13) but mainly just think his immense talent will be on display.

This is about the time on the PGA golf schedule where I start to mosey away from actively watching the game. In my opinion the season is way too long - longer than most other professional sports. Oct 2014 to Sep 2015.  Completely dilutes the tournaments importance.

I'll pay attention to the WGCs, the majors, Jack's tourney, then the Tour Championship and Pres Cup.

Sorry CVS Health Charity Classic . You may be a classic, but I ain't watchig.

I like it even though I don't always watch. It's nice that different cities can get a chance to see the pros up close almost every single weekend. I just wish we could get more tourney's in the mid-west during the summer. I have to pretty much wait for majors/Ryder Cup at Hazeltine or Whistling Straights and then I might not even get a ticket because everyone wants to be there. :pound:

Goodbye. See you and your anti-Tiger-despite-nearly-every-other-pro-doing-the-same-things tirades in about ten months. BTW the CVS Health Charity Classic is not part of the PGA Tour. It is a locally run small exhibition like the big names used to play back in the day to raise money locally to support a good cause.

Since Tiger doesn't really play much of the tour events but cherry picks the tournaments that he'll support, I still will watch him toss clubs and throw out f-bombs. Its almost as if he agrees with me that the tour is over saturated with tournaments for nearly 12 months.

Like I said "anti-Tiger-despite-nearly-every-other-pro-doing-the-same-things". Some things never change. One of them is @Rick Martin -Goodbye.

Your goodbyes are premature - said I wasn't watching the telecasts - didn't say I'd keep from posting my gems.

Not premature-Just wishful thinking.

Pretty compact leader board: -11 currently leads with a projected cut of -4 (83 players currently)...119 under par and within 10 shots. Looks like 66 guys are at -5 or better (4 of the -5 still on the course) with 7 guys at -4 with holes remaining in round 2. Unlikely , but if 4+ of the guys at -4 make it to -5, there could be some unhappy guys finished at -4 who go to bed tonight (assuming round 2 doesn't get completed) thinking they will play the weekend only to find they miss the cut.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
