Old Chromed Wedge and a Can of Coke?

I have heard of this kind of thing being done before, and im thinking the coke is going to eat at the finish of the wedge. Im sure its not going to stay very chromlike after its been sitting in coke for a while.

I think it would make the Coke taste pretty awful.

i would like to know the same thing. i have the most mixed up (finishes) set of wedges but i like the way each one looks. i would like to take the chrome finish off of my 60 degree wedge.

I don't think thats going to work guys. To remove chrome takes some wicked effort. It's a pretty technical process, I don't know much about it but I know its extremely hard to do in your basement. Ive heard of people whipping out there dremels but coke isn't going to take care of it.

I blued my wedges, which was awesome for all of a day. I soaked them for about an hour in vineager. I had oil cans, the vineager removed the oil can finish pretty well. From there I just followed the instructions that came with the kit and boyyah I had gunblue wedges that were just amazing looking. Only problem is I didn't have a sillicone cloth so after one round even whiping them down with a rag and cleaning them led to a quick 24 hr rust and the end of the finish. They went back to their original oil can look, actually a used oil can not off the rack.

Now thats a project, boil oil and plunge your wedges into them. Wicked dangerous but could be cool.

Coke isn't going to remove too much of the chrome. You'll probably end up with a rather clean (but sticky) wedge. Removing chrome involves some pretty very un human friendly chemicals and also noxious fumes. Its not something you want to try unless you have a large, well ventilated space. Otherwise, you could also try 'flaming' it. Basically involves heating the thing with a butane torch. Removing the resulting finish, then flaming it again. From what I've heard its a slightly more durable finish... (than bluing or oil can).
