Staying in Corolla. Any nice courses or great deals around?

Thanks in advance.

Just got back from there on Saturday.

The only course that is super close by is Curituck Club. Like all the courses in the area, the rack rate is pretty steep, but if you go through Golfnow you can probably do much better on a Hot Deal.

Curituck Club is one of those courses that routes itself through residential areas and then out by the sound. No adjacent holes and a lot of OB. That meant trouble for hacks like my buddies and I, but better golfers should find it reasonable. The only real complaint is that they have some kind of issue with dead spots on the fairway and tee boxes of the front nine.

If you don't mind a bit of drive, The Pointe and Carolina Club are both nice courses and bit more playable for my ilk. You can also get pretty good deals on GN. Kind of gutted that our fearless leader tortured us with Curituck twice and we missed these.

Stay away from Holly Ridge. Its a total goat track.

Two more to look into are Seascape, right near the Rte 158 bridge, and the Links at Nags Head, 11 or 12 miles further south.  Like the Currituck Club, both run through housing.  As I remember, the Links is tighter, and on some holes looks much tighter than it really is.  I found both courses to be enjoyable, but I have no idea what the prices are right now.  I've also played at Kilmarlic, right across the highway from The Pointe.  There are many fewer houses on the mainland side of the bridge.

the only thing wrong with this car is the nut behind the wheel.

Thanks for the input. Saw the prices were a little steep. Hoping the quality matches the price, not the pricetag matching the demand since it seems pretty secluded at Outer Banks..

IT might be a secluded, but in season it can be packed.  We're just into the beginning of the high season now.

Like I said. Try the golfnow hot deals. My lot has had really good luck with those. If not for those, we'd play one round instead of the usual two or three.

Actually just took a quick look for you. Nags Head, Pointe and Carolina Club can all be had for $30-40 for Friday.

When I was in Corolla last year it seemed like the deals were to be had on the moving days for renters, Fri, Sat and Sun.

@rdsandy ce you are right, but we've been able to do pretty well mid-week. We played Curituck Club last Tuesday for $30. That's the round I picked up. In past years, I paid $24 per man for Carolina Club on either a Wednesday or Thursday.

It is a bit luck of the draw since only a handful of tee times exist on a given day and we do tend to go in mid-May. It's probably tougher in the middle of summer. Either way, it would be pretty tough for my guys to shell out $70-$100 bucks per round.

One other bit of advice if you use the mobile app. It will default to a 10-mile radius. In Carolla that would mean only Curituck Club. Change over to 50-mile to get the other courses. The drive isn't that bad.
