Reminds me of what I saw at the 2012 Deere Classic* on Saturday afternoon.

Seung-Yul Noh stood on the range and just did swing drills. On one drill, he would come to the top of his swing, set motionless for about 8 seconds, and then fire through the ball. He hit shot after iron shot like this, nailing every one.

A couple of stations down, Rory Sabbatini was working on shot shape. After two rounds, he was -7, but then had a 1-over 72 earlier Saturday: Several bogies on the back 9 - he had trouble pulling the ball. So, Rory sprays a few short irons, does a brief swing drill, and then starts dropping fade after fade just left the practice green flagstick. On Sunday, he shot a 65 to finish -12.

These guys are not only good, but they can self-fix minor swing problems without talking to Leadbetter, Pelz or their financial advisor.

*Overall, the DC ended with Zach Johnson defeating Troy Matteson in a playoff; the two were -20 after 72 holes. Steve Stricker was trying for his fourth straight win in the event, but finished four strokes back.

Focus, connect and follow through!

Oh, I totally remember that!  They tied a playoff hole (may have been the first) with, I believe DOUBLE BOGEYS.  Then the next time through the same hole (pretty sure it was 18 each time) Zach hit a perfect fairway wood or hybrid from the same left fairway bunker over the pond to within birdie range to win.

    • Day 312 - Better finishing position, fuller backswing, PRGR to see how swing speed was.
    • Going to a Friendsgiving tomorrow and I am bringing a no-bake cheesecake. I make the crust too big, but I think it turned out good. The filling is really good.
    • Sure, but how was your alignment? 🙂 Day 53 - 2024-11-22 Mirror work after getting back home. Wife is a superstar for her career/job/whatever.
    • I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
    • Day 128: played 9. Nice little even 9, with 2 birdies and 2 bogeys.
