They weigh the same. The1 inch is a blade while the #7 is a mallet. If the 1 inch is your visual preference by all means go for it. Try both lengths if you can. I tried both heads and lengths and went for the 38 inch #7. The counter balance does feel like a smoother pendulum swing. Can't yet say it sinks more putts but I like it so far.

Great, thanks!  Does anyone have thoughts on the traditional Tank models vs. the Odyssey Works tank models?   Some reviews I've seen seem to say the Works models don't truly have any additional counter weight, just extra shaft with a super stroke grip.

I have found that heads that heavy as in the Tank 7 produce stability but the feel is numb and they are ... heavy!

But whatever fits you is what counts.

I have both the Tank #7 and the Works version.  (I keep a set of clubs in AZ for the winter).

My putting has improved from an average of 1.9 to 1.7 strokes per hole per round.  Is it the putter?  I don't think so but I have so much more confidence.

Whatever works for you.  I really like both of these putters.

Thanks for the feedback.  I went to a local shop to try some out, and I do like the feel.  Actually liked the #7 better than the #1 to my surprise.  Found a good deal on one of the newer tank #7 cruiser models and pulled the trigger.  Will report back with thoughts.

I played around with the original Tank without adjustment -- my guess is they agreed with other golfers that many of us felt too much weight was not a good thing for feel and voila! The Crewser Adjustable is birthed.

Well I went ahead and dumped it in favor of a traditional weight, traditional length, traditional head Ping Cadence TR Anser 2.  I could not be happier.  It just fells right.  I seem to have a better feel for the speed which really helps on lag putts.  I could never get used to the counter balance and length.  I may have been just fine if I had got in the standard length instead of the 38 in version.  Live and learn I guess.
